The system is a unified, government-led, and data-driven framework to better integrate humanitarian response, social protection, and poverty reduction efforts in Nigeria.
Last month, IPA joined the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, including key development partners, at a national workshop in Abuja to co-create the framework for Nigeria’s One Humanitarian–One Poverty Response System.
This works within existing systems — no parallel infrastructure needed. Humanitarian mine action organizations can deliver life-saving first aid as part of what they already do.
#MineAction #ExplosiveOrdnance
The Burkina Faso pilot, supported by the government, has:
✅ Trained 67 trainers
✅ Reached 1,309 community members across two regions
✅ Shown statistically significant gains in knowledge & skills
✅ Documented 33+ real-world first aid interventions already
Most mine risk education teaches people to avoid landmines. But what happens after someone is hurt?
Researchers Hannah Wild & Nicholas Meda asked: what if first aid training was integrated directly into the programs humanitarian organizations already deliver?
A landmine does not know when a war is over.
IPA and @j-pal.bsky.social Humanitarian Protection Initiative released new evidence changing how we think about emergency care in conflict zones.

What makes it work at scale?
Rapid assessment, individualized support & household engagement—not just as activities, but as principles for lasting impact.
And when local leaders invest, teachers and learners benefit long-term.
Key takeaway: mEducation strengthens foundational literacy & numeracy, complementing the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) program of the Philippine's Department Education and accelerating learning recovery where it's needed most.
In our webinar with @hundredorg.bsky.social, we explored how mEducation is moving from pilot to policy—showing how evidence-based innovations can be scaled, sustained & embedded into public education systems.

Education leaders face increasing pressure to ensure every dollar invested delivers real learning gains.
But organizations often struggle with:
→ Choosing the right costing methodology
→ Collecting reliable cost data
→ Adapting cost estimates across contexts
In this workshop, participants will explore practical tools to:
→ Turn cost data into smarter education decisions
→ Compare programs based on impact per dollar
→ Adapt cost estimates when programs scale
Evidence of impact isn’t enough. Decision-makers also need evidence of cost.
At #CIES2026, IPA is joining @Center for Effective Global Action and @Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab to host a workshop on Strategic Costing for Education Impact.
