Don't... Most artists use references? Even if you are an amateur or not, references most of the time (if not always) make the final drawing better, or at least help you get there faster.

I've only used a screenless tablet, so I dunno much about screen tablets besides them being more delicate. Personally, being screenless has made me struggle in the initial sketch and lineart, proportions are miles better when I can see what I draw (traditional art).
