Personally I think when a world leader announces “Tune in tonight at 8pm Eastern to watch the world end” like it’s the fucking season premiere of Roseanne we should have a different leader the next day.

These interviews were both really great! Will you also be translating the Virtual On one they mentioned? (Since the topic was drills they must have been talking about Dordray, my favorite!)

It's cool someone is doing this but I'm mainly just glad to see someone explain how to get this to run on an emulator at all. (I played through the first bit of the game so many times trying to get it to stop crashing!)

This seems like a maliciously put headline to make people feel a certain way.

Wikipedia is not partaking in generative AI. They are making AI companies and scrappers having to pay for training their modules off wikipedia texts. And having an AI (not that ai) tasked with updating dead links.

I've only been able to do it that way, too. Sometimes I have a really hard time telling what the thing is, I imagine if I were doing it "correctly" it would be more apparent? But maybe not, ha ha

Yeah you'd need to do the opposite, looking "through" it, like what you're supposed to do for those 3D magic eye images. I've never been able to do it :/

Dekin no Mogura. I hadn't heard of it but there's an official translation on Kmanga and even an anime. No idea what chapter it's in though! When I found that page the one before it was there too, where the main character fails to convince her to get a PS2:

Japan loves Sega consoles now more than it did when they were new

Curiously, the Japanese version does not call it a retro console, it seems to just say it existed, so readers know it wasn't made up. She wants to play Seaman (it also explains that was a real game, too)

This is where I think there's parallels to the '83 crash. E.T. performed reasonably fine, but Atari invested so much into it that anything other than the biggest game ever would be a failure by *their* metrics! That's not the game's problem, that's management's problem

If you want to hear a compelling story of a resilient animation studio in a small town and some harsh truths about why Canada's animation industry may not be as self-sufficient as it should be and why we may not be supporting it in the best way, do yourself a favour and give this episode a listen!

Whenever I see a venture capitalist group buying up an artistic platform or a website or a newspaper and picking it apart, I'm reminded of a Stephen King quote from a documentary about him possibly making a "better investment" than buying a radio station:
