"Gas prices have surged since Iran conflict began. The way power markets work (under powerful Labour MPs) means gas almost always sets the wholesale electricity price. During periods of zero-carbon operation, Neso expects wholesale prices to be low"

The Swiss far right "People's Party" (which appears in the Epstein files in his communications with Steve Bannon) is our country's largest party. It is also campaigning in favour of a straight up white nationalist ecofascist initiative - called the "sustainability initiative."
How much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.

#Climate breakdown shrinks the amount of time people can safely go about their lives. Rising temperatures, driven by #fossilfuel burning make it hard even for many young, healthy adults to do basic physical activities, such as housework or walking up stairs

Line graph time series of daily mean Arctic sea ice thickness for each year from 1979 to 2025 using shades of red, white and blue. A seasonal cycle is shown with thicker ice in late winter and thinner ice in late summer. A long-term decreasing trend is also visible. Data is from PIOMAS v2.1.
The average thickness of #Arctic sea ice reached a new all-time minimum this year (in this dataset)... 📉

What does @rutgerbregman.com know that Kevin Anderson doesn't?
And what gives him the right to brand the likes of Kevin Anderson a 'doomerist'?

Every single month the UK burns up 0.7% of the carbon budget for 2C.
In the words of Kevin Anderson , it is now 'too late for non-radical futures. I see no way out of revolutionary rates of change in how we (particularly groups of us) live today.'
See earthbound.report/2025/11/29/t... (at 40:29)
To stay within 2 degrees of warming, the UK would need to cut its emissions by 8% per year, 3% higher than the cuts we saw at the peak of the COVID epidemic. If we took a more equitable approach to our fair share of the pie, the figure would be 13% per year.
We know that if we pass 2C we risk triggering a cascade of interacting tipping points in the earth system. We are already crossing tipping points for coral reefs and the Amazon, and we are witnessing the weakening of the AMOC, which regulates our climate.
We are anticipating temperature rises of 2C by 2050 with a small but real chance of 4C by 2100. This spells systemic collapse, including the collapse of the economy. Risks will become uninsurable and the financial system will implode.

This was @rutgerbregman.com's reply to a question about the pace of change following his third Reith Lecture.
History is also littered with the corpses of people who underestimated imminent threats. Could it be that Bregman is failing to recognise the unprecedented nature of the climate threat?
'I've never really liked the doomerist framwork of, oh, we have only 5 years or 10 years or whatever the number is to tackle climate change. Humans are also extraordinarily creative and adaptive creatures, at least that's what I see time and time again in history'.
