Sending massive solidarity to Ryan and everyone at @uniteitf.bsky.social and elsewhere whose employers are undermining their own core values.
With our current mandate ending, today sees the end of our current strike action.
Our new ballot over TU victimisation closes on Wednesday.
Our Safety Officer remains under threat and our employer has made no real effort to find a resolution.
We don’t want to have to strike again.

One of the sacked reps from @uniteitf.bsky.social spoke at our victimisation strike rally yesterday. What’s happening to them is another stark example of the union movement’s ‘leadership’ losing its way.
Please join us in sending full solidarity & give them a follow.

This is what it looks like when you refuse to tolerate trade union victimisation: voting YES and YES to defend a colleague.

Not only are we on strike to demand @ucu.org.uk stop its year-long campaign of trade union victimisation, but we also vote again to make clear we are taking a stand.
The TU movement is united on one matter: you do not act unlawfully to one of our own.

Unite national officer Andy Murray said: "Our members will not tolerate this approach from UCU management and with no resolution in sight feel they have no choice but to show their anger on the picket line. We urge UCU to come back to the negotiating table and make the concessions necessary to end this dispute."

Unite members in the north west on a picket line while taking strike action to defend Marie, their H&S rep, who is being subject to trade union victimisation by our employer.
Unite against TU Victimisation
@Unitetheunion.bsky.social doesn't tolerate the victimisation of its reps by employers. Today our members in the North West are showing what solidarity looks like.
It's time UCU ended the victimisation of Marie, our Health & Safety Officer.

Headline: 'Unite staff to strike over union victimisation' with the quote 'Across the trade union movement there is one thing we are all united on: that we do not act unlawfully towards our own. This issue will now bring together all voices across our movement. The victimisation of our Health and Safety rep and the threat to their job and livelihood must end immediately."
Regrettably our members will be commencing strike action from 9 February over the victimisation of our Health and Safety Officer.

Solidarity to @uniteneu.bsky.social and TSSA staff belonging to @gmblondonregion.bsky.social - both striking today over bullying and intimidation in their workplace.
Too many of today’s union leaders are displaying a level of hypocrisy which is doing severe damage to the entire movement.
Out on the picket line with our striking TSSA Union members this morning. We appreciate the solidarity from TSSA members and activists.✊
Bullying and intimidation have no place in any workplace. It’s time for TSSA’s executive leadership to clean up its act.
Following a report on @drjogrady.bsky.social's NEC update, we want to clarify that all dispute issues remain unresolved:
❌ trade union victimisation
❌ failure to negotiate a hybrid working policy
❌ failure to adequately deal with safety issues
❌ breach of recognition agreement & other policies.
Photo showing an article from the latest Private Eye on the Unite dispute which exposes UCU management's hypocrisy, in particular highlighting a quote from an SMT member that strongly suggests our action short of a strike (ie, continue doing your job but office attendance remains voluntary as it has done over the last five years) is somehow irresponsible.
ASOS which is "work in the same way you’ve done for years" is not irresponsible. It's protecting our members until a fair & equitable hybrid policy is agreed.
UCU SMT then deducting 100% of daily pay from staff taking ASOS & undermining its own policy?
Now that’s irresponsible.
It’s also well past time for our employer to sit down and negotiate a fair policy on hybrid working with us.
We once again call on @drjogrady.bsky.social to meet us for unconditional talks to resolve our dispute.

To be clear: imposing or even threatening financial penalties for staff with disabilities is wrong now and would be wrong at any time.
This kind of behaviour needs to end.
Now.
This imposition also disproportionately affects lower paid staff whose London Weighting can account for more than 12% of their pay.
And most shockingly it impacts disabled staff who now face a financial detriment if they require home working as a reasonable adjustment.
Because our employer has suddenly imposed new contractual terms meaning London-based staff will lose all or part of their London Weighting if remote working is agreed. This imposition is part of our ongoing industrial dispute, which includes a failure to agree a hybrid working policy.
Being disabled shouldn’t mean you’re on a lower wage, or that you’re afraid to ask for support at work because it could hit you financially.
Having a reasonable adjustment should never lead to a pay cut.
But this is what’s happening to some UCU staff right now.
Short 🧵
We wondered last week whether @drjogrady.bsky.social would listen to @ucu.org.uk members, agree to unconditional talks & withdraw the threat of deductions for taking ASOS.
So we asked her. She didn’t reply herself, but SMT’s response, regrettably, was “no”.

We call on Jo Grady and UCU SMT to: • Enter negotiations with Unite UCU without preconditions. • Stop the threat of punitive deductions for ASOS - this breaches UCU and TUC policy and only serves to undermine all of us, not least those UCU members currently involved in legal test cases against punitive deductions after taking lawful industrial action. Signed, 25, no 37, no 46, no 50 UCU branch committees (and still counting)
Fifty branches, representing over 36% of UCU members, have now called for @drjogrady.bsky.social to enter unconditional negotiations & remove the threat of punitive deductions against staff.
Unite's repeated requests for such talks have had no response. Will she now listen to @ucu.org.uk members?
