Posts by Catastrophe Games
Look what just arrived.... I'll have it on the website later tonight for sale
Had some help at the shop today....
For you Hethwell!
Finally have lights in our future game store... 3 weeks to go!
And you loved it!!!
This look, BTW, is the one I always use when @armchairdragoons.bsky.social Brant is taking photos... gotta keep an eye on Bayonet Brant!
Doing some grognard tonight. Fascinating system by Hermann Lutmann, game is Steamroller: Tannenburg 1914. Kinda interested in the battle but more intrigued by the mechanics. Very happy to try it, last year's BGF score.
It is an enjoyable light euro with a theme I'm very interested in. Only playing solo, I can get a game started and completed in less than an hour. This is about as close to a "cozy" game as I can get!
C'mon choom, I'm sure there's somebody down in Pacifica that will make some shaky as all get out deal for the game... I didn't back it on the KS either, wanted to wait to see the reception first. Missed out on the base & droid upgrade, so got some from Gamecrafter that are close enough.
Only played solo, so there's that. Its very thematic, as I like the IP as well, but despite the appearance of a dudes on the map game it plays like a mid-grade Euro. Not nearly as crunchy as WotR!
Taking a break from building a game store to actually PLAY a game. Voodoo Boys for the win against Maelstrom (who I always hate) and crazy Johnny Silverhand. Gangs of Night City, CP2077
The latest arrivals to the store from our allies in Europe: Battlegroup Clash and Castelnuovo
A. 25ish
B. 1-2
C. 1
The whole premise of the company is short historical games, although we have a non-historical division as well. About half the pitches seem to have looked at our guidelines, while half just threw out a pitch hoping they could roll a natural 20.
Very likely!
Here's a new review about Zurmat by @charlietheel.bsky.social Great points made. BTW, cubes were used because they were cheaper and easier for players to use, so it was more a publishing decision than a design choice. I love Charlie's perspective, as I never gave that decision much deliberation.
It's a prototype, we don't even have a cover yet . Once we've got that I'll start the month long slog of getting it on BGG
Last night one of the above made us drink a bottle of Scotch. Pure torture....
Afghanistan: Decades of Strife was the first game of the day, again with @djackthompson.bsky.social , Jim and another one of our designers, John Lapham. Tight to the very end
First battle of BGF over, with @djackthompson.bsky.social taking the victory over Jim for the 1st battle of Kharkiv. True Command, with our latest map
Starting the day at BGF and here's what the safety conference next door has setup!
Not scheduled, just bringing it, and hoping to get it on the table
Battlegroup Clash arrived today! We'll get the preorders out on Monday! Going to bring it to BGF next week!
Proof of my participation in GAMA Expo (just in case any events require me to provide said evidence) (not that anything happened) (...but if they did...)
En route to GAMA EXPO for the first time. Task: Troop the convention. Purpose: 1)Find distributor to buy games for the store, 2) Talk to potential printers 3) Find potential distributors
@gamingthepast.bsky.social For our next discussion (if either of us can remember it): How would the game potentially model a false retreat?
Wasn't really feigning, got some bad rolls, so need space to hold him at bay.
Another playtest @gamingthepast.bsky.social for True Command Ancients. Much discussion over how to properly disengage while in contact.
