Fundamentally, if you're worried about the cops, DON'T BACK UP TO ICLOUD.
The emphasis on what is and isn't recorded in the operating system is misplaced. Educating people that Signal (and any other tool) isn't magic is far more imporant.
good reminder to change your signal notification settings
No but with any luck it’ll suck me straight into the tube. Probably voids the warranty though.

My other concern is that these push notification logs are backed up to iCloud, a quick search says apparently they’re not. However, the word “generally” keeps me skeptical.
Is there a way to purge what’s already been gathered by those push notifications before someone changes the setting?
Signal has a setting to stop this (Settings > Notifications > Notification Content). It's likely not an issue limited to just Signal, but more fundamental friction between secure chat apps and phones. Very interesting data point when talking about forensics www.404media.co/fbi-extracts...

The same people who were so confused why I cut contact with them will look at this and be like “fuck yeah”, then go back to wondering why I’m such a dick.
Me but with my entire career. Find a big enterprise to hide in and keep it for a decade? Nah. Startups with revolving door execs and VC/PE bros every single time.
You use AI to write code and you don't what your code does.
I write my own code and don't know what my code does.

I just want to study in an old library and take my tea in my quarters at half noon and listen to the rain on the windows and stroll through the arboretum and compare notes with my peers and uncover ancient campus secrets and build lifelong bonds but instead I have to work a desk job :(
New — I wrote about how journalists proudly using AI to help them write their stories obscures the deeply human process that makes journalism a societal necessity, and one that feeds the soul of those who create it.
Hope you’ll give it a read. I promise I wrote the whole thing.
Maaaaaan, you were kind to me when I knew nothing and nobody and I’ll love you forever for it.
