the game is so human in its exploration of alien civilizations, and i especially love that as a therian because it means that "human" is not really just humanity. it's animal, creature, the instinctual urge to make music around campfires and look to the stars and wonder and wander.

AND speaking of the music, the theme that normally signals the end of your current loop has an iteration that is itself a loop because it plays after you de-power the time machine, building in tension as you race against now-final death to travel to the Eye of the Universe

the SOUNDTRACK is so beautiful. i especially love the somber themes that play when you discover lost ruins scattered with memories and skeletons or drifting spacesuit corpses

i adore the Nomai characters. there are jokesters and scholars and lovers and playful children and philosophers and bullheaded explorers and "science compels us to explode the sun" and you see it all through these ancient runes that i never get tired of looking at

the 22-minute time machine is encased entirely in SUPERNOVA-RESISTANT(ish) ROCK and it is fucking glittery & beautiful. it looks like you're just surrounded by stars, as if you could pretend the universe was still living, were it not for the supernova powering the machine and sending you back anyway

im playing outer wilds for the first time and now that I'm approaching the endgame everything feels so tense even though it's technically just putting together a bunch of things I've already done. i think this game is very good
