MAGA has always been a cult, but the fight with the Pope represents something much larger taking place.
Christian Nationalism is settling into place as a post-Trump religious movement that supports neo-fascist brutality at the end of American Empire.

NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.
"People’s persistence drops... they’re also not willing to try without AI.”

Todd is a good follow
It’s a good question, let’s clear the air:
1) Disco is awesome, like 25 all-time classic tracks in a 4 year span,
2) Disco was hated because it was queer, brown, and black,
3) Disco was hated because it paired women and men in a different power dynamic.
4) “Disco Sucks” was a “ MAGA” test run.

This line graph illustrates the percentage change in agency staff levels from the previous year for nine major U.S. federal scientific and health organizations between the fiscal years 2016 and 2025. The agencies tracked include the CDC, Department of Energy, EPA, FDA, NASA, NIH, NIST, NOAA, and NSF. For the majority of the timeline between 2016 and 2023, the agencies show relatively stable fluctuations, generally staying within a range of +5% to -5% change per year. However, there is a dramatic and uniform plummet starting in the 2024–25 period. Every agency depicted shows a sharp downward trajectory, with staffing losses ranging from approximately -15% to over -25%. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows the most significant decline, dropping to roughly -26%, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) shows the least severe but still substantial drop at approximately -15%.
This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

CBS filed a copyright claim against my YouTube channel for posting Canada's version of the CECOT story that Bari Weiss killed—SO—I downloaded the transcript and read the transcript verbatim. Here it is.

As someone from outside the UK, it's honestly scary how normalized transphobia is in a country with a supposedly left-leaning government (and I know Labour is centre-left AT BEST, but compared to the Tories...). I blame JKR Rowling.
The U.S. intelligence community concluded Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved the killing and dismemberment of a Post columnist, making President Trump's formal dinner for the prince on Tuesday a dramatic step in public rehabilitation. https://wapo.st/3LOwEFn
our president is a very very dim person and the U.S. press covered for him because media owners wanted tax cuts, merger approvals, and mindless deregulation
guy handing money to JK Rowling "K*ll every trans person" - JKR "I'm an ally, I just really like Harry Potter!" - guy
this is what you look like as a Harry Potter fan in 2025
Cities basically subside suburbs, they're not economically viable on their own.
As we approach Memorial Day let’s not forget this
A four panel meme, featuring John Connor talking to The Terminator, from Terminator 2 John: Wait a second, you’re saying you’re from the future? Terminator: Great question! Thanks so much for asking. Let’s think about the answer…hmm! The current year is 1983. Working backwards logically, I’m from the year 1965, which is 300 years in the future. Anything else you’d like to know? John - stares blankly Terminator: I’m sorry, I can see that was not the right answer. I actually came from the year 829392 AD, which is 10 years in the past from this year, which is 3
I am begging for a Hollywood movie or TV writer to make something that features realistic 'artificial intelligence'
He keeps spending that money in order to keep the Argentinian Peso's value artificially high (did you know the 🇦🇷 Peso was the currency that most increased in value last year, even with the country's economy shrinking?), in order to clamp down inflation. It's going to blow up on his face, eventually.
I still remember helping my dad in all the SSI AD&D games (also the first two Baldur's Gates, and Warriors of the Eternal Sun) when it came to character building, because while he played the electronic games he never was a tabletop player, and those manuals did a horrible job explaining the system.
While I agree that you guys don't get paid nearly enough in the TTRPG industry... it's not like my wages have increased, either. So higher-priced products just means I'll keep using my old stuff and the mountains of free content available online.
BREAKING: The Monitors were just hacked at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to display an AI video of Trump licking Elon Musk’s toes.
The caption over it read: “LONG LIVE THE REAL KING.”
A fundamental story of the last decade is that a lot of basically incompetent people got fed up by competent people telling them they were wrong, constructed a more welcoming alternative ecosystem of competency cosplayers, and then somehow turned the whole government over to them.
