"sex doesn't belong in YA books"
Listen, I learned more about birth control, menstruation, and how to get and give consent to different acts from Tamora Pierce books than I did from my school. There's a huge difference between smut and showing teens what healthy sexuality is.
Don't be discouraged! Treat them as comps

A collective photo taken at Firestorm Books. Our team, including five humans and two dogs, is sitting on the sidewalk in front of the building looking relaxed. The sky is bright but cloudy and flags on the building hang without any indication of wind. The building is painted forest green and various posters and signs are visible in the windows, which reflect the sky. The largest reads "Immigrants Welcome."
Like a lot of small businesses in our region, Firestorm has been in financial distress for the last year. Hurricane Helene was our tipping point, but local cost of living increases, inflation, and higher occupancy costs are huge contributors. 1/9

Given Jake's obsession with Churu, samesies

Skybox has a new goal: $250 a month in subs. We're at $185 now, thanks to a few $1 heroes who saw this thread and subscribed. Bless y'all.
I believe we can do $65 more a month. If we get there, I will start a monthly column and we'll put together a week of themed pieces for y'all. Sound good?
Hey, let's talk about money and @skyboxcritics.com, because unless you're one of the big indie outlets, money's hard:
Right now, Skybox makes about $180 a month from our Patreon. That's it. That's not a lot! In fact, it doesn't cover our operating costs! Skybox has never made a profit. Ever. π§΅
This is the reality of what AI companies want for the future: where EVERYONE is unable to function without relying on them for "intelligence as a utility."
In order for them to sell this to us, they need to convince us our brains are never creative, interesting, able enough.
Thanks, Rick!
Tired today but told myself I'd write for thirty minutes.
Wrote for an hour.
Do it tired.
Do you want to write for Retro Game Books? And you have a great retro gaming themed idea? Submit a pitch! We want to hear from you.

I would absolutely read this
Time to switch to Linux
It'd be great if the snow got the memo that it's March and it should stop
It would be cool to have a legislature that acted to defend its own constitutional prerogatives and, maybe as a treat, the interests of the people it represents too.
I've lived through at least three, maybe four, supposed end of days

To quote @audacityofdespair.bsky.social, I'd rather put a gun in my mouth
The hubby and I still quote this to each other every now and then
The PS5? You mean my 4K player?
The image is a meme with three panels, using a scene from a movie to humorously convey a conversation about prosecuting people associated with the Epstein files. 1. Top Panel: Shows two characters, with the left one facing the camera and the right one seen from behind. The text reads: "prosecute everyone in the Epstein files." 2. Middle Panel: Features a close-up of the right character facing the camera. The text states: "if we prosecute everyone in the Epstein files, the whole system will collapse." 3. Bottom Panel: The left character is in focus, looking at the right character, with the text: "I already said prosecute everyone in the Epstein files, you don't need to sell it to me."
