Young people don’t have the money as well as being time poor by having to work longer in dull jobs to pay for rent that it they don’t have the experiences, contacts or space to genuinely innovate. I studied Fine Art, then got stuck in endless dull office jobs to pay bills. Not done art since uni.

Made me think of Mark Fisher’s slow cancellation of the future." cultural output—music, film, and art—has become trapped in an endless loop of nostalgia, the recycling of old forms rather than the creation of anything genuinely new. Fisher blamed technology but I think Stewart Lee nails it better

Fascinating podcast with Stewart Lee. Found it particularly insightful on economics and its effect on culture. Wish someone with power would listen to this and try and resolve the death of the arts and creativity.

First saw this in 1990 on a dodgy VHS. Never thought I would get to see it on the big screen. I’m generally not into Anime but this is one of those masterpieces that transcends genre. Wonderful film.
