Maybe there needs to be a movement to be proud to pay taxes. Every April 15th, people should look up what taxes pay for and claim something they’re especially happy with supporting. Perhaps some unknown thing taxes fund. If I made this kind of money I would be proud to contribute more to the state.

Why didn’t they go for 2 earlier, though? Would have been 3 (if they made it) and an easy FG this time.

Trust & Safety Tycoon Manage your team, set policies, make investments, and tackle the challenging world of Trust & Safety

Maybe people should be required to play trustandsafety.fun before joining social media so that they understand how difficult this is 🙂

Love it! The limitation is that you would need an open weight model, right? Newer APIs don’t seem to provide logprobs anymore ☹️

Has anyone ever proposed to lid Aurora Ave / 99?

I have heard of @lidi5.org but this seems like another place where it’s splitting neighborhoods in half.

Honestly, let’s make it a point of pride. I have zero problems celebrating people for paying taxes. Let’s have billionaires post about their taxes on April 15 and compare who paid most. Let’s celebrate the top tax payer.

One day someone will start making “dumb” appliances again. They’ll just work for 50 years as before. Will be a huge hit. I really really don’t need a screen on my fridge that inevitably ends up showing me ads or the thing tracks my consumption.

Creating Seattle’s Superblocks, Part 1 » The Urbanist # Often when an idea comes along that the urban planning world finds intriguing, there's a race for other cities to try out that idea. One such idea that has been getting a lot of press lately is the ...

TFW you experience a city and can’t stop thinking about how your city can adopt a great pattern… eventually you reach the conclusion that you can’t possibly be the first person to have this thought and hooray I’m right!

I’m getting as many people as possible to watch Grown Up Dad on YouTube. It’s quietly powerful and deeply thought-provoking. If you think fatherhood doesn’t need rethinking, this might change your mind. #GrownUpDad #Fatherhood

FWIW where I’m from we have tons of actual obstacles that have been put there by whoever designed the road. I’ve seen them on some streets in Seattle but not nearly enough. It completely changes the mindset from “I’m driving here” to “This is a neighborhood and my car is just about tolerated here”

Ah, my bad I thought it was just two bike lanes. That is easily sufficient!

7 months ago 4 0 1 0

In fairness, the places where I’ve seen this have lots of driveways on that street so at least those cars need to somehow get to their driveways? You might say “why are cars?” 🤣 but at the end of the day these driveways and cars exist so taking them away will make a lot of people angry.

It’s so frustrating that there is this illusion that we are all 49%/49% right now. Us versus them, good versus bad, and it’s all because of the BS that is the electoral system. It’s very likely 70% versus 30% and we’re just not seeing representative government. There’s just no common sense right now

Alright, people, let's be honest: GenAI systems are everywhere, and figuring out whether they're any good is a total mess. Should we use them? Where? How? Do they need a total overhaul?

Inside Amsterdam’s high-stakes experiment to create fair welfare AI The Dutch city thought it could break a decade-long trend of implementing discriminatory algorithms. Its failure raises the question: can these programs ever be fair?

New from me @gabrielgeiger.bsky.social + Justin-Casimir Braun:

Amsterdam believed that it could build a #predictiveAI for welfare fraud that would ALSO be fair, unbiased, & a positive case study for #ResponsibleAI. It didn't work.

Our deep dive why: www.technologyreview.com/2025/06/11/1...

That said, it becomes very emotional with people being forced into one mode (RTO) instead of providing flexibility. That makes every argument a threat to one’s way of life. So I definitely get the emotions. I don’t get the emotions of the RTO crowd trying to force others back into the office.

All this is to say… I don’t agree with all of it, but there’s probably a good chunk of overlap. I appreciate you sharing this perspective because it’s sad when a conversation can’t happen at all.
