RFK Jr & Linda McMahon told my university’s medical school to stop creating a diverse medical workforce or else they would cut all federal funding (ie, NIH, NSF, Medicaid, VA hospital)
Here’s a piece I wrote with @michaeldgreen.phd on why that will shorten lives

I’m so sorry Martin. I hope you find a solution.
The lord of the onion rings.
Or “do I need a snack”
The are just complaining about reviewer three.
I’m interested.
Those crazy AI conferences!
I liked this. It was a controlled experiment and the reviews they were testing were from the group that explicitly agreed not to use LLMs.
I find some very specific facts that I pick useful to support my preconceived ideas.
GREAT news for clinicians & researchers. 🙌

While the STM market may not be as efficient as some would like, it does function to allocate capital.
I’ll give you an impact factor if you like. I’m sure I can make one up.
Just sending positive vibes Catherine!
This is insane.
I’ll tell you way through. PIDs make it a hell of a lot easier to stitch trust markers together!

I thought it was impactful, clear, specific, and actionable.
At #r2rconf we created some AI generated assets in the AI workshop, you can see what kinds of things were generated here mulvany.net/r2r/, presentations, games, visualizations, and a cartoon.
Highlight of the conference for me so far.
Slide showing the 7 injustices of AI in STM publishing: - AI tools simply perform worse in non-English languages. - Cultural bias. - Knowledge gaps. - Language laundering. - Reinforcement of publication barriers. - Economic inequality. - Epistemic injustice.
Very important presentation on how AI can exacerbate the inequities that are already huge in the global scholarly communication system. #r2rconf
At the debate at the end of day one. Both debators making emotive and inaccurate claims in relation to the motion. #R2Rconf.
How ethically would you report AI use on manuscript submission - play this game to find out - mulvany.net/r2r/ai_use_g...
@r2rconf.bsky.social - mulvany.net/r2r/ai_use_p... use case permission map against policy - output from 1st workshop today. #r2rconf
Yes. It’s because of bots. We had to decline something like half a billion requests from bot scraping on BMJ sites in the last 30 days.
