The energy requirements of parenting are wild. It can't be Sunday night! I haven't rested yet!
I once took down an internal web application by leaving it on the home page over lunch. It had a function call in a loop to retrieve some information after a minute, then spawn another instance of itself for the next call. Should have done loop or recursive call, not both!
Ha, I did not know! It’s been so long since I’ve seen it, that scene is about the only thing I remember, it probably merits a rewatch eventually.

I was a software developer at a company where the product was online, and we got hit by a sustained DDoS attack that was fairly brutal. They were extorting for money. It was quite an experience, someone(s) trying to stop your business from working unless you paid them money. Scum of the earth.
Very plausible

On the plus side I’ve replaced nearly every doorknob in the house and they’re no longer “decaying and scratched gold plate” colored
What a productive but miserable day. Looking forward to when my weekends will one day be restorative again. Maybe a few years from now.
That’s frickin’ awesome!
Echoing this - it’s my default frozen pizza for sure.

I’ve been teaching an 8-week Sunday School class for parents of our Confirmation students, where we cover largely the same materials their kids are learning. They are a great group of people, and were even engaged with our church government and polity week yesterday!
Though a 70-something-year-old would definitely save his final report as `report.pdf` on the root folder of the C drive, so this tracks

Yes! Love the sport and like 90% of the drivers, there’s a lot of camaraderie amongst the competition that’s so fun to see. What other sport has a cooldown room where second and third place sit with the race winner immediately after the race and just casually chat?
I’ve never read the comics, so when I came into the movie I was fresh. I walked away from it kind of irked by it, but it took me days (if not months) thinking on it to appreciate what it was saying. I think it’s good.
The TV series is still one of the best TV shows ever though. ;)

Nice view for my next session on “Scientists Break Down the Infrastructure Behind AI”

Me at SXSW in line
I get to do a little SXSW this year, so the first talk I’m hitting is “Are You Faster Than a Robot” featuring the inimitable Mark Rober. 😁
It took a few minutes, but I did! Thanks for this week’s wisdom and challenge!
An autographed picture of Hakeem Olajuwon holding a Compaq laptop for a promotion from the 1990s
I grew up as a Rockets fan during this time. My Dad worked for Compaq back in the day, and they had some kind of autograph session/promotion thing one day. Accordingly, I have this on my desk still:
most people don’t know how good the bird guides are getting these days
