Sorry to tarnish some great movies. He was one of my fave directors after Father, Gypsies & Dream - it was my first cinephile loss being unable to separate an artist from his art.

I loved his movies until I found out he was Riefenstahl to Slobodan Milosevic during the Bosnian War. Underground feels like great art but is nauseating propaganda that makes the Serbs victims and the surrounding ethnicities monsters - whilst they were literally on an ethnic cleaning campaign.

The Emily Wilson 2018 translation is excellent and super clear. (Norton books)

The Gareth Hinds graphic novel is also excellent - and extremely faithful to the text, though does have a little inevitable blood/violence in it.

Been off the Star Wars train since I walked out of Rise of Skywalker 20 mins in, hate the tv stuff, BUT I don’t even think of Andor as Star Wars. It’s Battle of Algiers meets Army of Shadows in space with a Lawrence of Arabia budget and insane depth and scope. Absolutely stunning stuff.
