Really special to get to watch the #ArtemisII launch live with my kids.
This is the power and potential of US science & technology, made possible by dedicated government scientists and engineers that the current Administration is undermining. Look what we can do when we invest in public science.

My new @npquarterly.bsky.social piece outlines a path for how civil society, including the scientific community, can fight US democratic backsliding, drawing from lessons in history.
There's much we can do in this moment and many are already stepping up. nonprofitquarterly.org/how-to-under...
Yesterday, the Court ruled that our lawsuit against the Trump admin can proceed. Illegal cuts by billionaire Elon Musk’s DOGE have left lasting scars on federal science & US agencies. This is a step toward preventing the use of similar anti-democratic, anti-science tactics by this administration.
"The public deserves an EPA administrator who will face the challenge of the climate crisis(...) not actively serve as an agent of destruction beholden to the whims of oil, gas & chemical industry execs. and an authoritarian, anti-science US president.”— @gretchentg.bsky.social via @theguardian.com⬇️
"My fellow scientists, we have an assignment: we must take collective action to hold Congress and this administration accountable. It is time to channel that evidence-based outrage into action,” said @gretchentg.bsky.social at Saturday’s @standupforscience.bsky.social rally in DC. #StandUpForScience
What does it mean to defend science in DC? This was the question that UCS President @gretchentg.bsky.social discussed on the Scientista podcast. At a moment when federal science is being sidelined, discover why we must protect the systems that empower society to make science-informed decisions.
In the first Trump administration, the EPA appointed a Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee that skimped on expertise and subsequently failed to set science-based air pollution standards. They've just appointed a similar cast of characters. subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2026...
Thank you for capturing it! Great shots.
Me speaking at the Stand Up for Science rally.
Group posed with UCS posters plus Beaker.
Today we showed up.
Feeling proud of scientists and science supporters in this moment. Thank you all. #Standupforscience
Join me, @standupforscience.bsky.social, @ucs.org and scientists around the country in supporting the National Day of Action Rally to Stand Up for Science tomorrow in Washington DC and cities nationwide!
It's not a time to stay silent. #StandUpForScience
Happy birthday, @ucs.org! I'm honored and humbled to carry a legacy of scientists speaking up against powerful forces and insisting that science is be used for the public good. We're not done yet.
Dr. Gretchen Goldman, president and CEO of UCS: "This anti-science administration must be held to account for evading its responsibility to help address this acute crisis and we’re going to help make sure that happens.”
SEE YOU IN COURT: UCS joined @earthjustice.org in a lawsuit against the Trump administration today to defend the EPA’s Endangerment Finding and vehicle emissions standards.

Today, @ucs.org joins @earthjustice.org and others challenging the Trump Administration's Endangerment Finding repeal.
These moves abandon the EPA's mission to protect people’s health and its legal obligation under the Clean Air Act and they must be held to account. www.ucs.org/about/news/u...
Today @ucs.org joins @democracyforward.org, @protectparks.bsky.social and others to challenge Trump administration censorship of science and history in our national parks. The public deserves access to historical truth and reliable climate change information. Let's go.

Today, Administrator Zeldin took a chainsaw to the Endangerment Finding, undoing this long-standing, science-based finding on bogus grounds at the expense of our health.
This thumbnail of my @democracynow.org appearance perfectly encapsulates my feelings about this week's news on the EPA Endangerment Finding.
These Trump administration actions defy science, law, and the public interest, and seek to unravel decades of climate progress.
Today is the one-year anniversary of my return to @ucs.org.
Reflecting on all we’ve lost and all we’ve done this past year, I’m resolved in our efforts to keep going. We must imagine, and work towards, a brighter future. Don’t let up.

Today we won.
A U.S. District Court ruled that the administration violated federal law when it secretly convened a group of climate contrarians to produce a thoroughly debunked report to overturn the Endangerment Finding.
The science still matters. We won't stop.

Thank you, Costa! An important victory for science, democracy, and FACA nerds everywhere.
Why is the Dept of Transportation trying to torpedo NYC congestion pricing? Why - in God’s name - is Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on TV smearing the Minnesotans killed by ICE? For @newrepublic.com, I show Trump has turned USDOT into an authoritarian weapon. newrepublic.com/article/2051...
This month, the US EPA made a radical departure from scientific precedent, ignoring the lives saved by air pollution protections and thus granting a long coveted giveaway to polluters.

My OpEd with @agu.org @eos.org on #SaveNCAR. Please check out what we can do together to speak on the value of this critical infrastructure, and what I believe is a source of American pride possible by over six decades of public investments. Let’s continue to invest in this important public good.
1/ "The Trump administration must immediately cease all violent, unlawful ICE and Border Patrol actions. We call on Congress to speak up and hold this administration accountable, including calling for a transparent, credible, and just investigation of the violence and deaths in MN and elsewhere."
“The speed, the scope and the severity of the attacks on science are beyond anything we’ve ever seen,” says @gretchentg.bsky.social.
My @nature.com story on the human toll of the 2nd Trump presidency.
Thx to @dochfroehlich.bsky.social, @briannosek.bsky.social, @katharinehayhoe.com & others.
We're one year in. The speed, scope and severity of what's happening to American science is beyond anything we've seen before. The reliability of the Federal science and technology enterprise and the people within it, has been shattered. www.nature.com/articles/d41...
For those who work on equity issues in transportation, this was a disruptive year, but researchers and advocates aren't going anywhere. Tomorrow theyll prove it.
My new @usa.streetsblog.org piece reflecting on #TRBAM week and the present political moment.
usa.streetsblog.org/2026/01/14/o...
The fact that air pollution protections save lives (and thus dollars) has long been an inconvenient fact for those who want polluting industries unfettered.
This move is indefensible and dangerous.
www.nytimes.com/2026/01/12/c...
The authoritarian, violent, and anti-science actions of the Trump admin over the past week show clear contempt for democracy and the public good, endangering people in the US and around the world.
Congress must uphold its constitutional responsibility and hold the administration accountable.
"It’s insulting for President Trump and the administration to make claims about public safety when their policies and actions have put so many people, in the United States and around the world, in danger." @gretchentg.bsky.social www.ucs.org/about/news/t...
Parents everywhere want to do everything possible to protect their kids and help them thrive. Secretary Kennedy just robbed us of one of the easiest ways to keep our kids safe, through routine science-based vaccine schedules. I'm angry about the kids that will suffer because of this cruel decision.
