Folks if I sell 40+ million books and am still reading and internalizing bad reviews instead of living my best life, please stage an intervention.

Just to help with my scheduling, how many tens of millions have you sold so far? 🙂

Every single article I read about Madonna at Coachella mentioned that she’s 67. Not one article I read about Nine Inch Nails at Coachella mentioned that Trent’s 60.
ISN’T THAT WEIRD?
It’s almost as if everything Madonna has ever said about misogyny is true, or something. 🤷‍♂️

Coachella is removing these videos, so they might be about to learn about the Strokesand Effect.

Art is 'product', it would seem. Something that the proles will inexplicably buy to stimulate their emotional responses or something.

What does the serpent have to say about all this? How does Lazarus feel about being raised from the dead? Let's hear from Job's wife and the worm in Jonah's gourd!

It's precious little consolation to the dead, the sick, the impoverished, that one asshole will in fact be remembered as an asshole.

These prayers don't seem to be achieving much. How would the situation be different if no one was hearing the prayers?

I am excited beyond description to lift the veil on what we have been working on in 2026:

Please meet ggsql! A new extension of the SQL language for creating visualisations using the grammar of graphics. Read all about it in the blog post or visit the website at ggsql.org

Some of my doctor bills are out of network and don't count against our deductible. Which is just insane. I was unconscious and could not consent to care 'out of network'.
Upshot, it would be nice if I could get some book sales. Anything would help.
And it would make me feel better.

Sometimes I forget how to write and think I have to know what to write or how to do it before I start and so I don't start until I just can't take it anymore and start anyway thinking I don't know how to do this and then I write and I like it and it works and I remember that that is how it works

Comic. I’m at my desk, leaning over to the doorway, saying “Hey! Foghorn! Foghorn Leghorn! Get in here!”
Foghorn Leghorn is walking past the doorway, “Boy, I tell ya, I tell ya, not so loud, boy. What, I say, I say, what d’ya want?”
Next panel, I’m gesturing to my computer. “How do I find that really good manga you recommended? It’s an anime now? I keep getting Halloween costumes.” Foghorn leans over my chair, “well, boy, I say, I say, you ain’t typin the entire title.”
Last panel, I turn around- “you said ‘witch hat.’ Foghorn gets in my face- “open your ears, boy!! ‘Witch Hat Atelier, I tell ya! I tell ya ‘Atelier,’ I tell ya’”

Concrete suggestions like that, for specific parties to take specific actions, are useful. My quibble was with Sam's nebulous call. Every well-meaning person in the country could 'take it seriously' without it resulting in any action at all.

Ah! 19 April – 126th anniversary of the day William Butler Yeats kicked Aleister Crowley downstairs as they fought for control of the British branch of the not-at-all-ridiculous Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in the Battle of Blythe Road. According to legend, anyway... 🧵
