TBF, millions of people did learn that very lesson.
Then commercial landlords started screaming in agony...
this is so, so true. I travelled in Lenapehoking (with full awareness of its history) in 2023, but both there and in other places I walk/hike, this is evident. It's not the American hiking culture only (or per se), of course - it's white people's hiking culture. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
this is...just brilliant

The UK is a country-shaped embarrassment in motion. A country that has one of the cleanest electricity supplies ever *yet* chooses to drill the North Sea for gas. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
"This is classic Negotiating 101 courtesy of the Faceless God himself. Sure, he may have kicked it up a notch from 'sheer madness' to 'abject depravity,' but that's for the pundits to debate."
Transgender rights = human rights.
In many countries around the world, the rights of trans people are under attack.
This International Transgender Day of Visibility, we continue to work for a world where all people can enjoy their rights fully.

supervisor (co-supervisor, to be specific), but thanks!
I strongly dislike institutionalised learning and I hate hierarchy (and academic authority tends to come with both), but the joy of seeing one of your students write a theoretically nuanced and well-referenced argument is unmatchable
I would say self-organising alternatives seem necessary even if uncommon in this island ;)
I can't even find the words - the absolute self-own of these institutions.
UK higher education, a masterclass in self-extinction
On the plus side, I've just written the conclusion to my book
On the minus side, I still have about four (out of eight) preceding chapters to write 😌😔
(and no, needless to say, I do not eat meat either).
I've been predominantly vegetarian/pescatarian most of my (adult) life. I have stopped eating fish once I actually took the time to learn how the majority are caught and what that does to sea life.
"Time" is about 20 minutes of your day, btw. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

I see the UK again in denial about airborne transmission so let's repeat what I wrote about Covid in 2020:
- When scientists say "we do not know", they mean "we cannot establish with experimental certainty a causal effect", NOT "unlikely" or "no evidence exists"

ICYMI - the in-house climate denier at Bari Weiss' The Free Press took part in an effort to claim the final report into Spain's blackout was released on March 15th, and claimed renewables were the cause...
..........but the report was released on March 20, and does not say that 🍾
absolutely! I was thinking exactly about this kind of strategic performative impotence in a talk on AI in HE the other day.
