#MWE Day 3
Eddy Grant — Walking On Sunshine
Slightly cheating as I am listening as I type. But first impressions are good. First three tracks are dripping with groove, some great messages in the lyrics, too. Very interesting story behind the album, Grant played all the instruments!

#MWE Day 2
Cymande — Cymande
Would say that I connected with this quicker on first listen than the Osibisa record. Lots of grooves and gorgeous rhythms, a very grounding album, too.
#MWE Day 1
Osibisa — Osibisa
Great cover for a start. Will need more listens, but on first run through, a very nice mix of rock, jazz, funk…just very easy to listen too.
#MWE 2026 list — Gone with a Black British music theme. Soul, funk, reggae, lovers rock, drum and bass, UKG, grime, jazz…all the good stuff.
These lot will just say anything
If you’re after some weekend listening, well here you go. Grime, jazz, R&B, bruk and house bangers inside!

This Theon Cross album at Blue Note is great
Gay powers restored etc
Post a perfect album from the 90’s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden or Alice In Chains.

Ash Ra Tempel — New Age of Earth
Not listened to this for TIME. Prob like 10 years, soooo good.
Music Ask
(Likely pick for the fourth one is anything from a Sondheim production)
Finished James Baldwin’s Just Above My Head today. What an absolute belter of a book. So rich, searing and alive.
Daddy Freddy catching the first beat on this, sooo good haha

Had fun making this. Starts with dub, into jazz/soul and brit funk style stuff, then onto grime/garage/modern rap and back down again through soul, jazz and dub.
Mostly Black British Artists.

#MWE — Day 20
Albert Ayler Trio — Spiritual Unity
Well, this one was intense. It felt like if you put Pharoah Sanders’ overblowing technique on steroids, pure expression from start to finish. I loved it. Enjoyed the back end, where things get pretty moody. Would listen again, for sure.
#MWE — Day 19
Miles Davis — Kind of Blue
Back on the saddle with a legendary record, it’s easy to see why it’s so revered. Great trumpet and sax tones throughout, cool energy all round. Nice one to wind down with, too. Loved the deep, emotional playing toward the end as well.
Interesting, gonna check him out for sure. Heard loads about him, but never really gone down the rabbit hole.
Got off track with #MWE after a terrible week, but gonna restart this evening. I think I may cherry pick albums from the list until the month is out.
Not really familiar with billy woods’ music but this was a really interesting read
