Emily Sena at the opening gala of the Edinburgh Science Festival 2026. The panel discussed some of amazing women who changed the scientific path of history forever but whom were barely recognised in their own time. How much have things changed? A thought-provoking kick-off!

Scientific objectivity is a myth – cultural values and beliefs always influence science and the people who do it Cultural ideas are inextricably entwined with the people who do science, the questions they ask, the assumptions they hold and the conclusions they land on.

Congratulations to this absolute force of a woman for this 🎉👏 can't wait to hear about the exciting science she'll be doing (and hear her go on about lipids for hours on end) 💖

I was thrilled to receive this news—I’ve been awarded the #MSCAPostdoctoralFellowship for my project, PHOS-SVD! Extremely grateful for the support of @annawilliamslab.bsky.social, @nadlerlab.bsky.social and my colleagues for their feedback. Excited to begin the journey into membrane lipid research!

A room with a screen hanging from the ceiling. On it you can see the title “Expectations: mine, yours, theirs” and a picture of Taylor Swift in a graduation outfit and Beyoncé wearing a black suit, sunglasses and a black cowboy hat. A green circular arrow points from Taylor to herself and another bidirectional arrow points between her and Beyoncé. A set of purple arrows point from the top down on both of them. I also got to deliver a talk on mental health in Academia (and how we can try and manage ours) - and to no one’s surprise, make it about Taylor Swift, again. So happy to see people at Edinburgh Neuroscience are creating this very necessary spaces and elated to be a part of it! ❤️‍🩹🫂

Such a pleasure to participate today in this panel where I got to share some insights into all those other things we get during a PhD apart from the more obvious technical skills. Thank you so much to @garyfalliagouna.bsky.social for brilliantly chairing and to the rest of the speakers! ❤️‍🩹

As part of our summer campaign, we took a look into skin and spinal cord health. We asked members of the Williams Group to share their research into Multiple Sclerosis and how the spinal cord is involved in this work.
