Not unexpected, but still depressing to see what's on offer.

Can't help but think 20mins of free critical thinking skills training would be far more useful!

Petition: By-elections to be called automatically when MPs defect to another party When an MP decides they want to defect to another party a by-election should be automatically triggered to allow the constituents the opportunity have their democratic right to agree or not with their...

This makes no sense…

An MP can wake up one morning, ditch the party you elected them for, & sign up to a completely different manifesto…

No thanks

If they defect to a different party, we should get a vote

Sign the petition & help make that law.

Broadly positive experience, pretty easy to get going, user friendly app, parking really simple.

E assist was great uphill - though took a while to get used to the slightly jumpy boosts. But weirdly tough to pedal downhill?

VOI bikes now in my area - had my first try tonight

20min wait for a bus (+rush hour travel time 😬)
30min walk or
12min cycle,
so seemed an obvious choice

Sick of everything being Orwellian or Kafkaesque. I demand more Scarrylous situations, where animals drive vehicles and run small businesses.

On a bus and an old dude is blasting times radio loudly across the top deck (don't know if he's aware its not connected to his hearing aids)

Think I prefer young people and their YouTube videos!

Public vote for new poetry quotes on the Scottish Parliament wall Poetry quotes on Canongate Wall

Have a wee vote, folks! Be assured it's not me, Liz Lochhead and Jackie Kay in competition with each other - god forbid! It's you choosing a line by each of us to be carved on the Parliament Wall. www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/2025/02/publ...

Musk, Trump Establish New Era of Kleptocracy in America A third dispatch comparing how the US media would cover this moment if it was happening overseas

Here is my third weekly dispatch, imagining how the US media *should* be covering the Musk coup if it was clear-eyed about the threat to our democracy. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/musk-trump...

No One Knows How This Will End (But I Do Not Think It Will End Well for Them) I can sum up the Trump/Musk/Vance theory of power in five words: "We have power; you don't." Alternative version in six words: "we can do anything we want." They seem to believe that nothing is really...

The US Government Is Not a Startup Elon Musk is moving fast and breaking things that can’t afford to be broken.

We are deep in the reporting, but this piece by one of our fearless leaders, @brbarrett.bsky.social, is a zoom out on what's happening in this moment, and what it means. Take a read.

What’s happening in the US is starting to feel more like a hacking than an election, with Trump basically cast as the idiot who clicked on the phishing email that let the ransomware guys in. Struck by how crucial tech not politics reporters are to us understanding it

A non profit substack - that doesn't want to get too big and where employees work a 4 day week - sounds great!

I only ever walk or cycle to Morningside. But what puts me off going there is that it's a traffic sewer and quite unpleasant to navigate the narrow pavements - not the cost of parking!

There’s enough Edinburgh councillors on BlueSky now to make a starter pack! Let me know if more come on board and we can gather them up like Pokémon!
