Happy New Year! I wish all of you an amazing 2025! 🎉🎊

I would like to congratulate GM Ju Wenjun 🇨🇳 for winning the 2024 Women's World Blitz Championship and completing the Triple-Crown. She became only the 2nd woman & 3rd overall in chess history to achieve this very rare feat (World Classical, Rapid, Blitz Champs).

I did it in 1996, Magnus in 2014.

Carlsen is OUT of the World Rapid and will NOT play in the World Blitz!

He wore jeans (NOT allowed by FIDE according to tournament rules which were posted prior to the tournament). He's fined and agreed to change for tomorrow but refused to change for tonight. FIDE did not agree with his position.

Ding's best game in the past 2 years. This is his real strength when in good form. What a statement to make after a horrible blunder yesterday!

This will be Gukesh's biggest test in his career! How to come back from such a loss? Luckily, he has a day off to recup.

All of a sudden, game over! Gukesh won as Ding hung a piece in time pressure! This is what I've been saying all match, getting into severe time pressure is the formula for blunders/self destrution! This may be the game that could make history for Gukesh as youngest world champion ever!

Official result: Draw! 5-5 after 10 games. It seems that Ding has found his groove and made his intention known.

1) If Gukesh wants to win this match, he has to take chances to break up the deadlock.
2) Ding is happy to chill his way into the rapid and blitz playoffs.
