We should feel supported by those we call family. If people don’t feel supported by “family” then let’s stop diluting the term.

I get that. I’m guilty of it too. But not even checking in during holidays, weddings, graduations, surgeries, etc is just plain neglect. I love them but my heart needs to leave some people behind.
