This Flyers team sure is fun to watch. Tough, relentless pressure. In a long series, that effort can wear down an opponent. And the kid, Porter Martone, looks the part.
Let’s Go Flyers!

Hay/caramel malt aroma. Toast, light caramel malt, and nutty flavors with light bitterness. Slight residual sweetness. Hojicha is a roasted green tea-Never had it so I can’t say I taste it. Regardless, delicious offering from local Embolden. 4.5% Japanese rice lager. Cheers! #bskybeer
Amber lager from Manhattan Project
Super busy conference last week in Dallas, TX, but stopped at 3 breweries. No tasting notes, sorry.
White Rock-good selection w/ pub food.
Manhattan Project-good selection but with better (less pubby) food.
Jaquval-small with limited selection but decent menu.
All good. #bskybeer
🤮
Smoked wheat
Belgian blonde
Likely last stop on the SB trip: Validation Ale, Funk Zone. First is a nice smoked wheat (4.3%). Smoke aroma but only slightly ham flavored. 2nd is Belgian Blonde (7%)-looks a like a Belgian ginger hair 😁. A little funk on the nose with some clove and hay flavors.
Cool digs. 👍🏻
Cheers!

Stopped at Draughtsmen Aleworks and Solvang Brewing in Solvang today. Pictured is SBC Amber Ale. I’m guessing they use brown malt as it has that distinctive flavor.
Both places were nice, though DA was quaint with a better selection (more my style).
Cheers!

Probably last post of the day. Institution Ale Co., SB. This is their California Common (4.9%). Roasted nut aroma. Dry, mildly bitter, woody and malty. Clean but could be a bit more expressive. Still enjoyable. Cheers!

Night Lizard Brewing, Santa Barbara. Back is a hefe (6.8%) and front is Pocket Mouse German Pils (4.8%) for me. I get hay aroma with grassy malt flavor and firm bitterness. Mmm. Maybe a hint of lingering astringency. Hefe is fairly nondescript-not much aroma, no spice, no banana.
Cheers! #bskybeer
M Special Brewing, Santa Barbara. Left is a tangerine blonde (4.8%) for the wife and farmhouse saison (6.5%) for me. Saison has a firm wine/grape aroma and flavor with some spice. Blonde is light with bit of an orange punch. Both tasty. Cheers!

Jumped over to Figueroa Mountain Brewing. Bigger selection, still chill. This is ‘Danish Red Lager’, a 5.5% amber lager. Roast aroma, light roast, light caramel malt, medium-light bodied, med-low bitterness. Cheers!
#bskybeer
Lindsey’s Lager by Brass Bear Brewing in Santa Barbara. 5% American lager. Very light to almost no aroma. Light bodied, no bitterness, almost fruity.
Chill atmosphere. Cheers!

Roast peanut and sweet malt aromas lead to peanut skin, toffee and chocolate flavors with a touch of drying bitterness. Mammoth Brewing delivers with this 5.5% double nut brown ale. Cheers!

BOTM 3. Good day for a poolside beer and this is a nice one. Soft citrus aroma. Some straw or light malt flavor with very light citrus and a decent dose of bitterness. Kinda like a session pale ale that drinks like a blonde with an orange slice. Cheers!

The earlier selection was a bust. This is definitely not! Wet blanket/barnyard funk on the nose. Brightly carbonated. Pepper, apricot and lemon, with some funky hay flavors. Finishes very dry but not bone dry. 9% ABV. Immensely enjoyable. Cheers!

BOTM2. 2nd from Ellicottville. I fully expected this to be purple hued. Blackberry on the nose with maybe a hint of sweet malt aroma tucked in there. Tastes like cough syrup gone bad. Curse these jokers for taking a wonderful beer style and f*%#ing with it. 5.2% ABV but 100% 🤮. Not 4 me.
#bskybeer
New BOTM shipment, thanks to the folks. This shipment had a fruit theme with 3/4 of the beers infused. Thin, quickly dissipating head. Hefe on the nose, Orange forward flavor. 4.6%. Not my style and meh to me but wife likes its. Cheers!
#bskybeer
Soft malt aroma, no hops. Flavor is like light toast with low bitterness. Body is light but not watery. Crisp and clean. Well done! 🍻

Got a bottle of that in my fridge. Cheers!
Bay City Brewing (San Diego) Fiesta Island Pilsner, 5.6%
Easygoing like an island oasis, this crisp and approachable pilsner is fitting for any size celebration. “Ruffreshing”
Beautiful day for a crisp lager. Hay aroma, cracker, low bitterness, and briskly carbonated (though maybe over the top). A nice sipper for a warm day at the pool (or beach).
Cheers!

Yeah, felt like taking a nap after 😉
Hanging with the family at The Confessional, The Lost Abbey, Cardiff. Pictured is Carnevale, a bretted saison (9%) and Holy Water (hop water) for the teenager. Wife is enjoying Devotion (dry hopped blonde), tucked behind the Holy Water.

Booze Brothers Brewing Company “Pushing Daisies” 5%ABV Pilsner
Warm one today in SD. Hay and honey aromas start this one off. Cracker, straw, and some bitterness lend to a refreshing 5% crusher. Don’t know if it’s the label influencing me, but I get a nice lingering flowery note. Cheers!

I find they need about 5 years of age to mellow.
🤮
Well, I botched a descriptor. I meant acetic, not acetone.
The Duchesse!
I get funky, stone fruit aroma. Acetone/balsamic vinegar and muddled tart cherry flavor notes with an effervescent body and a subtle lingering sweetness. Not sure why I’m describing, y’all have had this gem before. Proost!

The Lost Abbey Brewing Company. Noble Tendencies 5.0% Czech Pilsner
Hay on the nose. Cracker and straw with some spicy hops in there. Crisp, lightly bitter, and totally delicious. Cheers to making it through another week!

Jealous!
It pours deep brown with ruby highlights. Beautiful cocoa aroma. Tastes like chocolate covered coffee beans with a spritz of vanilla syrup. If not for the roast and hop bitterness, it might come off a little too sweet. I really like this well brewed 8.2% Baltic Porter.
Cheers!
