That feeling when you decide to listen to the Fourth Wing graphic audio a second time before your hoopla loan expires.
(Yes, I'm avoiding TOG again.)

Quick shoutout to Rowan Whitethorn before I start the next #TOG book. A hawk shifter who controls the wind is the best combination of fae powers I've ever heard. I bet his bird has a lot of fun. 👏

#CurrentlyListening to Queen of Shadows, end of book 4:
Well, that was interesting. Finally.
The climax of this book was actually okay. Maybe this is where SJM found her groove as a writer? The denouement was dragged out, but I I'm looking forward to the next book, which is a shock. #BookSky
This makes me so sad. I beta read for the first time a couple of months ago and loved doing it.
Too many people are pretending to be beta readers as part of a scam. Feeding it to AI makes no sense, when the point of beta reading is to get a reader's perspective on the story.
#CurrentlyListening to Queen of Shadows, ch. 59:
This is the least sexy edging I've ever seen. It's giving whatever the opposite of forced proximity is. It's giving siblings. I already have the ick thinking about them getting together, and I like them both. 😩

#CurrentlyListening to Queen of Shadows, ch. 58:
I am so bored. I have been bored for four books. I like the characters, but they have very little to do and almost no character or relationship development, and I'm so mad about it that I keep reading bcs something interesting has to happen. #BookSky
It's a fair trade.
Dragging myself back into the last half of Queen of Shadows. I have been working through this book for almost a month already, when my average finished time is 3 days. At this point, I'm only in it to see what Rowan does with his slick new haircut. 😏

FYI veteran romance readers need more information about "the cottage" before we know which one you're talking about. 🤭
I can think of 5 off the top of my head, just from my fav reads.
Welcome to cottagecore, HR fans.

Authors could take a hint from Outlander and let the MMC tell his story to the FMC, so we get his perspective and strengthen their relationship at the same time.
#CurrentlyListening to Brimstone reread, ch. 13:
I love Kingfisher (and Slade Ravinger) even more than the next girl, but I am so tired of MMCs who walk in and take the narration away from the FMC. A cheeky bonus chapter here and there is fine, but not half the book (or more) 😬

That moment when I realized I'm going to have to reread The Plated Prisoner series because I miss it...
I will be skipping all of Melina's chapters this time for sure, though.

I think the hype about the "cliffhanger" at the end of Onyx Storm is just that: hype. I thought it ended well and I wasn't wrecked by it; just waiting for the next one but not stressed about it. Just go for it.
I just reread Iron Flame, and I loved it so much more the second time. If you haven't read it, it's pretty stressful the first time around, but I think I like it more than Fourth Wing because it expands the world and the relationship are more complicated.
See also: fae. I even tried programming an autocorrect for that one, and it ignores me still. 😩
At this point, my iphone should know what venin are and stop trying to autocorrect it. 😆#FourthWing #BookSky
#CurrentlyListening to Brimstone reread, ch. 1:
I love how book 2 opens with uncertainty between the main couple. Everything feels inevitable at the end of book 1, and then you realize they actually need to catch up with fate, and it is awkward af. High marks for realistic drama. #BookSky
Then when I do get to the end, I cope with the void that opens up by immediately restarting the series. Once I've read it twice I can move on.
This happens a lot for me towards the end of a great series. I want to delay the inevitable, so I slow down, especially if I'm already feeling disappointed by where it's heading (like Plated Prisoner). It took my 6 months to watch the last episode of The Expanse adaptation for the same reason.
#CurrentlyListening to Brimstone, start of book 2:
I'm speed running this reread before my library hold gets pulled back. So good to hear Kingfisher again. This book has my favorite group of men out of them all. Can't wait to see them again. #BookSky
#CurrentlyListening to Fourth Wing graphic audio, part 2, ch. 7:
Only the battle scenes left to go. I'm dragging my feet because I don't know if my heart can take this again. 😬
And I'm out of hoopla credits for the month again, so no Onyx Storm for awhile. It's gonna be torture.

Craig Fergusen's audiobook memoir is top tier.
Mood: wondering if a few wyvern carcasses would wake up this continent, too. 🤔

Something I need us to be really clear about when discussing books that have a romance subplot:
Is the romance reinforcing the patriarchy, or is it challenging it? 🤔
I honestly wish there were two completely separate genres for those two approaches.

#CurrentlyListening to Iron Flame graphic audio, part 2, ch. 5:
Is Iron Flame actually my fav book of this series?! 😱 It stressed me out so bad the first read that I couldn't enjoy it, but I am loving it this time. The way the main couple negotiates their relationship is so satisfying. #BookSky
Losing your friend group at 8 is pretty normal. What have you done since to increase your empathy for women and girls?
I'm not at all surprised that a man stole your breakfast so he didn't have to wait for his own. The entitlement and lack of empathy is wild.
I grew up at roughly the same time here in the US, and we basically had the same lives as the Derry Girls. It's hilarious how realistic that show is, even as it is outrageous.
It did. That's why they wear khakis now instead of ripped jeans.
#CurrentlyListening to Fourth Wing graphic audio, part 1 ch. 10:
This book has the sweetest assassination. And I mean that in a romantic way. The couple that gets revenge together stays together. 😏
