Meanwhile, in Moree, police are using drones to surveil actual children who are then more likely to plead guilty because of changes to the bail act to make it easier to lock up children than adults. www.theage.com.au/national/rob...

more than 70% of incarcerated children and young people in NSW are presumptively innocent (locked up “on remand”). More than half of all incarcerated children, on any given night, in every jurisdiction, are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

I only get to pick one?
They sell ANDOR action figures, of course, and of course the audience is 35-50-year-olds, but it's deeply funny to imagine children playing with little Luthen Rael and Saw Gerrera dolls.
CHILD 1: I think violence is not only justified, but demanded
CHILD 2: I agree, but haste could be our undoing

really appreciate how we as a nation collectively agreed to just stop with the april fools stuff. we know who the stragglers are and we just ignore them, go about our day. don't even bother patting them on the heads anymore; just look through them like they don't exist and go make another coffee.
Trump war crime update: here's a report on the other humanitarian crisis being engineered by the mad king Trump in his lust for power. Who will intervene in this madness?

The lurch towards One Nation is the same as the MAGA wave. It is white people voting for their own pride, a pride which is threatened by their economic anxiety. Their whiteness makes them feel privileged and they’re desperate to hold onto that feeling of power, as they feel powerless in other ways.

Albanese's biggest strengths and weaknesses as a politician all revolve around a weaponised inability to tell you what he really thinks, and any time you actually get to hear what he really thinks you will understand why.
Why do I have to pretend that I'm going to print something in order to save it as a PDF. Why do I have to engage in a little ruse.
Instead of "the left isn't paying enough attention to these machine gods" they're claiming to build, perhaps we should write an article about how effective altruists brand themselves "left", ask who is writing these articles, and trace their cults and sources of funding.
A political cartoon by Megan Herbert, referencing a moment in episode 16, season 4 from The Simpsons ("Duffless"), in which Lisa Simpson sets out to prove that Bart is dumber than a hamster because he is unable to learn from operant conditioning (that touching a cupcake leads to an electric shock). The cartoon is split into 4 panels and all people featured are drawn in The Simpson's style. In panel 1, titled JUNE 2024, Peter Dutton (with smiling Angus Taylor and Sussan Ley watching on) is attracted to the sight of a model of a nuclear power plant on a bench top. The model is connected to a device which will deliver an electric current to anyone who touches it. Dutton is looking at a small sign announcing "VOTERS DO NOT WANT". Nevertheless, he is clearly drawn to it, and is saying "OOOOOH...". Panel 2. Labelled MAY 2025, Peter Dutton touches the Nuclear model, receiving an electric shock (BZZZZT!). Taylor is still smiling. Ley now looks concerned. Panel 3, labelled NOVEMBER 2025. The same scene, but now the Nuclear model has a sticky note added to it saying "SCRAP NET ZERO", and this time it's Sussan Ley (with Dan Tehan looking on) touching the model and receiving the electric shock. Panel 4, labelled FEBRUARY 2026, is the same scene yet again, except with the sticky note now removed, and the label saying "VOTERS STILL DO NOT WANT". This time it's Angus Taylor grabbing the nuclear model and receiving the shock, with a smiling Jane Hume watching on. Not pictured: Lisa Simpson watching on from the next room saying "Hamster: two, Liberal party: zero."
D'oh!
My cartoon in today's @theageaustralia.bsky.social (with apologies to Matt Groening)
And in case you'd like to know the episode this references, it's "Duffless", Ep 16, Season 4... google "Bart gets electrocuted by muffin" for a Youtube clip of the moment. You're welcome. 🤓)
Apologising for “any offence taken for interfering with that religious process” is such an insulting non apology - refers to 'any' offence as if he doubts it happened, dismisses prayer as a 'religious process'

I very genuinely do not think that Australia's media industry can be classified as any other than fully supportive of police violence, because you have to actively, consciously and knowingly work to frame what happened as general "violence mars protests" rather than "police violently attack protest"
Sorry for your loss

Australia popularised this in the early 2000s. It was against international law then and it still is now, but it has bipartisan support from our major parties.
Our camps are run by for-profit prison companies such as GeoGroup and Serco. Trans women have been put in male centers. All under Labor :)
Albanese must lead a strong response to the Boorloo Day of Mourning bomb attack.
After the horror at Bondi we saw that leadership on violence and racism is possible with political will.
The same urgency is needed on rising threats against First Peoples.
