Palantir manifesto described as ‘ramblings of a supervillain’ amid UK contract fears Alarm caused by posts of Alex Karp, tech firm’s CEO, championing US military dominance and of AI weapons

You have to wonder how much #Palantir have paid the Labour Party that they are so determined to let this criminal organisation into every single part of our lives and structures. Is it worth it? Are we getting value for money. Or are we selling the crown jewels for little return?

Went to decide which pasta to use with dinner.
We have 19 open packets of pasta in our cupboard.
Is this normal? 😂

Scotland also does this & gives our surplus to England for free.
In fact, often they use more than our surplus, so we may still have power cuts.
And although we are so incredibly renewables-rich, because we tie our energy prices to the gas market, we pay some of the highest energy prices in Europe.

The OfS will be able to use the new complaints scheme from September. From April, it will be able to fine universities the greater of £500,000 or 2 per cent of their income, which would amount to millions of pounds for large institutions, for breaches under the Freedom of Speech Act. Ultimately, universities could be deregistered for egregious cases.

Bridget Phillipson will introduce new laws to make it possible for Universities to be fined millions of pounds if they don't silence students who protest bigots invited onto their campuses. It's like the Tories never left office.

This is simply not true. Labour didn’t have to go right. They *chose* to go right. The big majority was a chance to reset everything back to sanity. Starmer chose the mad, bigoted, ignorant and dishonest route instead.

Spot on. Why doesn't Westminster just say 'Sure, you can have a vote on independence. And if you vote Yes but change your mind later you'll be welcome to rejoin.' Why is that so difficult for them?

We live in a country where the two most dynamic, charismatic, eloquent politicians of this century have the first names Barack and Zohran. This is what bothers the white supremacists so much.

I have 4 a year.
My parent's birthdays, and the anniversaries of their deaths.
Care messages between siblings aside, I'm with you in the 'ignore it and get on' camp.
Except I'm more irritable, less patient.
More absent, less positive.
I'm sad without even consciously acknowledging it.

What's incredible about this is that Sarwar seems to seriously think that people are really impressed by him, and are only reticent about voting for Labour because of the shit-show in London.

Something Celtic fans need to watch out for if the club is sold:
The board are sitting on nearly £70m.
That money needs 'ring-fenced' so it is still there to spend.
Any attempt by the current owners to have that cash for themselves has to be stopped.
We need to start a campaign for a fans' buyout.

I think this sums up what many people think: Scotland has improved enormously under the SNP, much more than England under the London parties in the same period. We need to protect that, as well as building for the future.

ICE’s hiring spree led to influx of recruits with questionable qualifications, investigation shows Patchy employment records, bankruptcies and allegations of wrongdoing blemish the records of several new recruits

Not a shocker: ICE rushed hiring spree swept in a bunch of undesirable dregs of society.

"[ICE's rapid-fire recruitment & hiring has] led to new employees with questionable qualifications"

Keep reminding your MoCs, this is who they're paying to terrorize the country.

As people get postal votes for the Scot Parl election please be careful of the spoiler operation which is 'Independent Green Voice'. They are listed second on the regional ballot paper in South of Scotland with the real Green Party further down. IGV is a right-wing spoiler operation.

I see Canada's parliament suffers from the same braying buffoons that are standard in London.
Should be a rule that you have to STFU and let people speak, or get thrown out.

I agree but *everyone* knew Peter was a corrupt, utterly self-absorbed lying weasel 20 years ago. So why were all the lads attending his mates’ secret briefings and publishing their shock revelations, why were they quoting him as a Labour Insider, interviewing him, having him on the radio as a guest

Imagine if things were the other way around..
Imagine that the UK was governed from Edinburgh, and England sent all its tax revenue Ebillions to Holyrood.
Imagine that Holyrood then gave England half back, but spent the rest on 'national infrastructure' projects like upgrading the A9 to a 6-lane motorway, building a new electric rail network throughout Scotland, holding the Olympics in Glasgow, and £200Billion on Trident nuclear WMDs sited just 20 miles from Portsmouth.
Now, imagine that there wasn't enough money for all of this, so Scotland borrowed to cover the extra, then told England that they'd have to help pay off the multi-billions interest on the loan.
Imagine if Scotland had then voted to Leave the EU, whilst England voted Remain, but we ignored their vote, despite knowing it could shrink their economy by up to 10%. Then imagine that, under cover of Brexit, Holyrood seized 24 core devolved powers from England despite the English devolved parliament voting decisively to retain and protect them.
England would have dissolved the Union decades ago.
Yes

Did you know that since 'The Vow' in 2014, which promised more powers to Scotland, Westminster has instead stripped 24 key powers and overruled Scottish Parliament decisions on devolved matters more than 13 times?

Sometimes people in England sneering at Scots moaning about Westminster's failings and its contempt for Scotland simply don't understand where we're coming from.

a man in a movie with the words all those moments will be lost in time ALT: a man in a movie with the words all those moments will be lost in time

The company that laid me off in September has nuked the tech title I launched four years ago and another launched nine years ago with no archive or relocation of thousands of articles, in case you wanted a metaphor for the ephemeral nature of modern journalism.

The only question worth asking until it's answered:
How does Scotland leave the Union?
If one partner needs permission from the other to be "allowed" to leave, or even to ask the question of its people, then say so.
There's no point in discussing anything else with Westminster until that's settled.
