Sure Start: Tackling inequality in the early years to transform lives The government’s ‘Best Start Family Hubs’ are reviving one of the most successful initiatives of New Labour. But will it work this time?

By age 5, children from the poorest families are already behind their wealthier peers – educationally, socially, even in health.

Sure Start was designed to break this cycle. It worked. Now it may be coming back. Here’s what we know ⤵️

My daughter is more than capable of voting, she has a political mind and has definite views on who she would vote for. Young adults should be given the opportunity to vote, it affect their lives like the rest of us, they should have a say in government.

That’s extremely ageist, they’res plenty of 80+ people who are quite capable of making their own decisions about how they vote. My MIL wouldn’t thank you for that, she will continue to vote until she can’t, hopefully for yrs to come!

Farage wants to make children more vulnerable online, he wants to repeal the Online Safety Act. Why because he feels it will go too far in our against freedoms in this country! FFS what about the abused children, the vulnerable teens and the abhorrent adults sharing their filthy secrets?

Nice one Meta -

Dead children who wrote poetry of hope before they were killed are really dangerous. 🙄

They’ve been allowed under the last government to get away with this for too long because too many MPs held shares and were being financially rewarded. Time to stop this now!

And there lies the problem, if you’ve ever tried to apply for PIP it’s an arduous and difficult process, you have to prove your case by providing an inordinate amount of medical evidence, information and attend an interview. So many entitled were wrongly assessed & refused.

No tax payer should have to pay for the post office failings but it’s run by the government and it will come out of their budget. “The Cut Off” is determined by the lawyers and settlement negotiations, which we are not privy to.

I couldn’t in all conscience vote for a bill that would make disabled people worse off. Are MPs robots and expected to have no morals or compassion? That the conservative way, NOT Labour’s but here we are with the similar tactics, I will not vote Labour again!

You’re so wrong in this situation the fact you can’t see it is beyond me! These people were accused & imprisoned for something THEY DIDN’T DO, they’re innocent! Not only do they deserve justice, they deserve to be compensated for it, end of!

The tax payer. If you had been falsely convicted, list your job, home and family through no fault of your own and then had to spend years trying to put your life back together, wouldn’t you want justice and compensation? The PO paid for a dodgy system, they knew, covered it up! Who pays, we do!

I watch a few of them on BBC breakfast yesterday. I felt very sad that they’re being pulled through the ring still after years of waiting for their settlement. Many have died, many are very ill most are suffering from mental health issues. The only winners are the lawyers. Disgraceful!

I have to rely on RM as a small business because customers choose it as a delivery service still, for the most part it works but each post office has a different price, there’s no consistent pricing anywhere!

Legislators for Hire

What can poor do to get MP attention?

Welfare cuts ‘could leave thousands of disabled women trapped with abusers’ Exclusive: The prime minister’s controversial welfare cuts would deepen economic insecurity for disabled women and make them more vulnerable to abuse, a new report has warned

Starmer’s welfare cuts could leave thousands of disabled women trapped with abusers.

Why no gender impact assessment?

Women lose disproportionately more in public sector wage cuts, benefit cuts, state pension age hike.

Despite equality laws gender pay/pension gap persists.

DWP welfare cuts to result in 150,000 in poverty - despite major U-turn The modelling comes after Keir Starmer offered major concessions last week after a rebellion over 120 Labour MPs threatened the government with defeat in the Commons

DWP benefit cuts to push 150,000 people into poverty despite partial U-turn.

How many will die prematurely?

Last year HMRC failed to collect £46.8bn of taxes.

Please tell your MP to oppose the cruel cuts.
