The whole reason why I'm in physics is to try jumping to another timeline
Sneak peak at an animation I'm working on for PET scan simulations 🧪⚛️
My VIRTUE particle collider display app is now available on Google Play for alpha testing!
If you have an Android phone, please join my group of alpha testers here: groups.google.com/g/virtuetest
Google requires all apps to go through an alpha testing phase before being publicly released.
Tomorrow I'm going to be showing off my VR particle collider display at the Quantum Jubilee event at the Grove of Anaheim. Come by if you can, tickets are free!

Confirmed, Randall has never seen the Sun
Not for commercial use! We're making it for publicly funded research in the future Electron-Ion Collider.
We've published a few papers on our results so far! arxiv.org/abs/2501.08586
Haha, that is a prototype particle detector designed to measure the energy of hadrons.
Uhh, if you're strong enough to pick it up, you could bludgeon someone with it?
My collider display program got featured by @brookhavenlab.bsky.social! ⚛️🧪

My advisor just gave me the go-ahead to try turning my VIRTUE collider display program into a phone app... so be on the lookout for that in the near future!
Just picked up this book from @astrokatie.com! Been looking forward to this since listening to the Crash Course: The Universe podcast
Made a demo for my particle collider display application, showing simulated collisions in the future Electron-Ion Collider! ⚛️ 🧪

I also got to work with antimatter! Our group tested our first prototype detector in front of a positron beam at Jefferson Lab. We're testing our third prototype now in the same spot! ⚛️ 🧪
That would be a likely result from a hard-scattering electron positron interaction, so, yes! Of course, even then there is a chance they'll just bounce off each other. It's all probabilistic.
If I ever say this, usually I mean that the particles are directly exchanging momentum between each other in some hard-scattering process. There's still some distance between them, but it's as direct of an interaction as you can get.
Got to go with what the advisor wants, haha
VIRTUE v2.2.0 is online! This is a free particle collider display for desktop and VR I've been working on for a while, please check it out! 🧪⚛️

Decided to go with a school bus
I was thinking the engine, but I haven't been able to find many good free 3d models for it
That was the first model I used, but I think it was a bit too large in comparison
3D model of the EPIC detector with a freight train next to it
Trying to find a good 3D model to show the scale of the ePIC detector at the Electron-Ion Collider. I think this one works well, doesn't it? ⚛️🧪
A prototype particle detector inside the STAR experiment hall at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider
As far as we can tell, our group is the first to deploy SiPM-on-tile technology inside a particle collider! We're testing one of our prototypes in RHIC at @brookhavenlab.bsky.social ⚛️🧪
A group of students installing a prototype particle detector at JLab
Installing our prototype detector at Jefferson Lab! Now we just have to wait for the positron beam to turn on... ⚛️🧪
It was great to visit UC Riverside last week! Thanks @fliptanedo.bsky.social for being a wonderful host!
I saw this as well! Was not expecting it, just looked up at the right time
Showing off our lab's prototype particle detector for the EIC with @astrokatie.com! ⚛️🧪
A photo of me with Dr. Katie Mack
I got to meet Dr. Katie Mack @astrokatie.com at my university today! She's giving a talk on the particle physics of dark matter ⚛️🧪
Is there any other way to give a talk?
