Meanwhile Mattel's over here with Scareglow and "Gold Faced Skeletor based on one particular cool drawing" and laughing their way to my stored up wal-mart gift credit.

I don't know when these were planned, but if it was post-election the room was read VERY poorly. Yeah, it's the 250th or whatever, but uh, maybe they could have used that mold to make a Legacy Filch or a collaborative Sorceress instead,?

That is going to be the most morbid place on Earth, like the stock exchange and the dog tracks slapped into a minimalist TGI Fridays.

It better be on the first floor, or they're gonna need those suicide nets Apple factories have.

Most of all "national security reasons" needs to be dead as an excuse, because right-wing authoritarianism never seems to be a threat, but people advocating for socialized health care are.

Manufacturing coups for Del Monte is 'in the national interest". being against war makes you a threat to it.

Or worse, "fatherland". Those agencies used to be independent, unable to conspire easily because they had separate bureaucracies, now they're all happily part of the same mass-surveillance network.

The point is, we gotta cut the whole post-9/11 apparatus out to keep it from re-metastasizing.

I'm old enough that I remember a time before there was a "Department of Homeland Security".

I remember, distinctly, hearing that was the name of the new joint agency and how weird and faschy that name was. Since when the fuck did Americans call it their "homeland"? Sounds a lot like "motherland"-

But the TL:DR is that infringement happens at publication, not during production, classifying AI training as theft would reverse that, and kill fair use. Ownership based arguments do nothing but allow Adobe, Nintendo, Disney etc, to pull regulatory capture and use the tech while competitors can't.

Nope. The "same rules still apply" thing applies there too. The Bluesky/Xitter format is bad for actual discussions of complexity, but I side with the Electronic Frontier Foundation on this: www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...

And along the same lines, if there's no underlying actor, that's animation, and should be treated/referred to as such.

It doesn't stop being a special effect or a cartoon because its made in a new way. Went through that whole rigamarole with CGI, and I'm fine just skipping to the end there.

Ai or special effects layered over an existing actor is a form of costume/mask/makeup, and should be referred to and treated as such.

With that time travel movie they bragged about making Joseph Gorden Levitt look like Bruce Willis and visa-versa, not that they'd resurrected young Bruce Willis.

Gygor's detailed Grodd Sculpting, on the other hand, would stick out like a sore thumb. so you can't apply it to ALL the classics supersized guys, but hey.

Turning him into an origins figure would only require #mattel to make him in brighter colors, honestly, since there'd be no expectation of modular limbs given he'd be in a vehicle/beast size class. I don't expect Tytus would be any different, construction-wise.

Part of it is that I've never had a humanoid figure that big stand so well, but they made his feet both large and heavy, and he stands better than any of my 8" #MOTUorigins giants (Krang, Sla'ker, I wish I had Andre). They wisely paired down his articulation in favor of stability.

Did some graphic design work for a friends' toy store, and part of the pay was Classics Megator #MOTU

I feel like a dick for recommending a figure that's $100 on the aftermarket, but man is his a good toy, even beyond its grail status.

Eh, I've seen videos, its neat, but I don't need to see it operating up close and personal, he's doing his job as being muscle for Ninjor fine dry.

People making informational requests are going to request both things they can spot as fishy, and things they aren't equipped to without additional fact-checking.

The question is if the hallucination/failure rate with the additional processes lashed in is better/worse than a non-AI websearch.

A hallucination engine has a lot of uses, and some produce useful scientific data (protien folding and suchlike), but those are treated like any other hypothesis and get tested before being utilized. Aesthetic uses go to the user, who may have tacky taste but will know what they like/asked for.

This is another thing I've been pointing out since the start. There's a reason for this, GenAI wasn't designed to be a search engine or a data storage system, it's an aesthetics simulator built around creating plausible but novel output. Hallucination is the point. It's a hallucination engine.

Oh, and his green bits are covered in an almost invisible deco that only forms a contrast when seen under blacklight. Whichi s cool, but like... wha?

Don't know if the hip-joint looseness is a one-off thing or an engineering flaw, gimmick heavy toys are all about tolerances and it's a disappointing flaw, even if a tape fix doesn't interfere with the functionality. Good ambition, questionable QC. Good for $8 on a sale.

Which I don't want to test because I don't want the inside of a display figure getting moldy, and even with water that often happens. That there's waist articulation at all means there's gonna be gaps for goo to get caught. No prob for intended audience, obviously.

Fig is an "okay", had to reinforce the friction-pop-off-joint on the left leg (the right one holds on fine with the button mechanism) with painters tape. Bloated arm has weirdly restricted articulation in the elbow, knee joints are cosmetic at best. Fig leans heavy on the dismember-and-spurt action.

A first for the internet (apparently), a #Ninjombie size comparison against other figs of known scale. This is apparently alien to modern toy reviewers.

As you can see, they are 7 or even 8" scale (if one discounts the built-in-posing) Haz Mat makes sense as a huge genetically swollen horror, tho

Is it too much to ask for someone, anyone, taking pictures at #toyfair2016 to visit the booths for Schleich, MGM, Zuru and Moose Toys? k

My proposal for a #MOTUorigins Bionatops that could be pulled off on a budget by o'l Mattel. a version without the tail-tip and head remolds is also viable, but much less fun.

This is what renders the wildlife and plantlife niche equivalents of the daemes, "crittas" essentially impossible to domesticate. Neither reproduces by mating, they sometimes split instead of ranking up. Variations happen, but they aren't heritable.

They manifest into the world, just appearing someplace remote with no one else around or, occasionally, by possessing an object and transforming it into a body (real common with machine/robot daemes and sculptural culture daemes).
