August (thinking): I think I woke up before my alarm. Panel 2 August begins contemplating what to do. August (thinking): I'm wide awake. Guess I could get up. Panel 3 August checks the time on his phone. August (thinking): As long as it's not too earl- Panel 4 August realizes that it's far too early to wake up and he's feeling too awake to go back to sleep. He is frustrated. Nougat reaches up towards August. Nougat: Maw (possibly meaning "Good, you're awake. Listen, you know that stuff you put in the bowl on the floor in the kitchen? That stuff is great. I need more of it. Seriously, a lot more. There's not nearly enough. The bowl is pretty much empty. I know you can do that thing where you shake the bowl and there's suddenly more in it. I need you to be doing that all the time. Could you do that for me? Thanks."

Hey, here’s a tip. If you’ve ever thought to yourself, poison dart frogs are cool, I’d like to try keeping those but I don’t want to die from poison: rejoice! When raised in captivity they are completely non-toxic (they get the poison from bugs they eat in the wild)

To be fair, even in history class that era was pretty glossed over and more of a vague: „ McCarthyism was a time when they went after who they thought were communists, and it looks like they didn’t get anywhere with it.“ but I also lived in a red state and we had a section on people of the bible.
