It’s strange because everyone has a fair estimated guess at what a wheelhouse/bridge/captain/deckie is all about. But & I have evidence for this, very few people know what engineers do & are amazed/surprised/vaguely interest in what we do due to the unknown & the extremes of the job - size heat etc
Yeah they were very popular as standard tool with old British Engines, Britool sort of phased them out. Now it’s anything that’s cheap. The fact those old Spanners aren’t chucked out is testimony to todays soft rubbish
