Nah man, I appreciate the support and input. And you’re right, and what I really want is a job that doesn’t crush my soul. And I know thats not exactly hard to come by, but if this is a possible opportunity for that, then I should capitalize on it. No sense wondering if I can just flat out find out.

I’ll have a frank discussion with my great uncle tomorrow. Lay out my needs.

Maybe writing this all out helps solidify it in my head that this is what I should have done a long time ago. Really they should have offered it flat out after all the “maybe you could stay”ing I’ve put up with for years, but I guess if I wanted it, I should have said so.

So it really just boils down to, if you want me to stay and work for you, I require a living wage. Enough to pay for my own place, necessities, and enough to put away. I guess I just never had the thought or courage to put it as plainly as that. It was always “you should stay” and I’d just shrug.

Might sound petty, but one of the things I need is stable internet. My hobbies revolve around it, and my great uncle’s land does not have hard line internet access, only terrible satellite. Internet would mean I could actually enjoy my hobbies and connect with my friends and brothers regularly.

I feel like this might be the best way to channel my doubts about staying here. Offer me a REASON to stay beyond pity and guilt, and I am so much more likely to. If they say yes, great, I can rely on that. If they say they can’t, no hard feelings, and that makes my decision easier.

So I’m wondering if I should just put that as a kind of condition up to them. Not an ultimatum or a threat, but just the idea up to my Uncle who wants me to stay and help out: If you genuinely want me to stay, then I want a stable job. Assure me that me staying gives me stability, and I will.

I’ve floundered around the concept for years, I do wanna be helpful, I do wanna be close to my family, but I also want to be able to be with my brothers further north, to have my own space and live my own life at times. And if I just needed to get any ol job down here, I’d rather do that up north.

I’m having some thoughts when it comes to my life. Long story short, my family wants me here close to them, to help out and just be the youngest one to look after things. I get it, but I’m not super interested. However, what I want more than anything is just… stability.
