Dreaming up new knitwear ideas... This would be a vest with a split standing collar, featuring eyelets and probably i-cord edging... The original thought is a filet lace design, but this could also be 🧶 knitted and use provisional cast-on for lace in both directions??? Hmm

Affordable housing, nutritious food, clean water, time off, the internet, breathable air, universal healthcare, quick and clean mass transit, and living wages are not luxuries. They're the baseline of human rights.

This book was phenomenal. I devoured it. It was all the medieval sapphic body horror and eldritch-terror-mistaken-for- religious-ecstasy I could have hoped for and more. I was so engulfed in this story. Fav read of the summer!

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.

pundits & strategists advised "allies" not to speak up. here are 21 posts about that.

that's how we get from 2016's gubernatorial race-losing "most anti-LGBTQ law in the US" bathroom ban to "you can deny a kind of people access to medicine" in 9 years.

a phenomenal, expensive, coordinated effort.

I've been in a weird creative rut/low energy period, so I have been doing a lot more reading lately. Finished the first (so good!); Started the second; almost finished the third (which I had dragged ass on for over a year til now)

The Senate reconciliation bill retains the trans healthcare Medicaid/CHIP ban.

Call your Senators, we still have a good shot at killing this provision.

Hundreds of thousands of people rely on this care.

What do you mean by "became psychotic?" Asking as someone who won't touch chatgpt or other gen ai with a ten foot pole if it can be helped, but since I work with information services & with youth I am very concerned...

You know you can just not use AI, right?

You can make a choice not to be part of this.

Even if your job uses it, YOU don’t have to in your normal life. You don’t have to let your kids use it.

You didn’t have it three years ago. You can just…be on Team Human. You can choose.

It isn't generally realistic for people to have a completely handmade wardrobe either, without significant time and cost investments too. Sustainability is using what you have/can get with resources available, and mending things you own. Buy what you can't make or trade/gift things with neighbors.

I needed to replace much of my wardrobe after being homeless for 3 years; I didn't have much money but I did have a lot of gifted fabric scraps and a sewing machine I was given when we got back into housing. I bought a pair of jeans and mended them as needed. Made shirts and dresses one at a time.

To be clear, I'm not an "I make all my own clothes" person bc I am that dedicated to environmental sustainability (though it's a nice thought); I make most of my own clothes because it's more accessible for me to expend time and use secondhand scraps than to afford new clothes that fit me right.

I would really love to know more about the conservation and archival efforts of the Costume Institute and other costume museums around the world because this is near and dear to me. Is any of that revenue to be put toward sustainability and ethical labor standards in the fashion industry?

11 months ago 2 0 0 0

It puts a sour taste in my mouth; I want to appreciate fundraising for the Museum's Costume Institute, but when so much money is involved, and we are operating like the world isn't upside down, and the Institute STILL only does paid admission for the exhibitions in the first place? Idk
