Was an honour and a pleasure to be able to contribute to this work by Will de Lartigue and @hjchoimd.bsky.social, who deserve credit for everything except satiation vs satiety pedantry, and all the Oxford commas.
Fantastic (and patient!) editorial support from @natrevgastrohep.nature.com team too

Really pleased to share our review of evidence for the diverse roles of the #vagus in each phase of eating behaviour, and our thoughts on how dysfunctional vagal #interoception drives obesity pathogenesis.
Hope it provokes some thoughts, and many experiments!

Terrific @nytimes.com piece on the new GLP-1s by my friend @juliabelluz.bsky.social.
They started as diabetes drugs, and are now used for weight loss, very successully.
But they offer promise for a HUGE range of diseases & conditions.

Delighted to share our discoveries about one of the brain's neurotransmitter systems:
www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
Together with colleagues at the @alleninstitute.org, we have learned a lot about a tiny cluster of neurons in the brainstem locus coeruleus (LC) that releases norepinephrine (NE). 1
We're delighted Professor Gareth Leng Gareth Leng will be the plenary speaker at our ECR meeting #NeuroendoCelebrate2026 in Manchester this Sept.

We haven't got any funds to fly people over unfortunately, but if you are visiting anyway at any point let me know, as we'd definitely love to have you give a seminar
No SSIB this year unfortunately - giving the US a wide berth until further notice tbh
It really is. And that's before you get into genetic variation in GLP-1R and GIPR in humans... www.nature.com/articles/s41...
I'm inclined to agree. Certainly nowhere near enough known about how brain penetrance of these drugs is influenced by which specific GLP1RAs tested (and if any conjugated labels), dosing frequency, dose time of day, obesity / inflammatory status etc.
No apology needed - great to see some proper discussion on here still. Reminds me of the good old days in the Bad Place...
Congrats Miguel, Andrew and team!
This one's going straight onto the journal club list...
Any evidence (or opinions) on whether this is a direct effect of Ex4 on the CeA GLP-1R neurons?
Japan is calling - submit your late breaking abstract for the ICN2026!

It's beyond heartbreaking to watch what's unfolding in Iran & the region.

Career Opportunity:
PhD Project – Seeing the Invisible: Ultrasound Imaging of Metabolism in Living Animals at Imperial College London with Prof Kevin Murphy.
Deadline 20 April 2026
👇 Super helpful resource for ECRs 👇
Nice to see this recommendation being put forward, based on "compelling" evidence from #UCL study showing protective effects of semaglutide on cardiovascular outcomes independent of weight loss.
Hope this signals the start of broader evidence-based prescription of GLP-1RAs on the NHS
👇 Great advice! 👇
Super excited to see the first paper from my PhD out! 🐭 Very satisfying to get to build an interpretable model of how the brain does a thing. A nice palette cleanser in the current sea of LLMs and deep ML.
You've got 'anti-Fos' IHC working in NTS? Nice!
