It's time to start talking about criminal liability for a cabinet that refuses to exercise its 25th Amendment duties. And by "criminal liability" I mean of the "high treason" kind.

And if so does that make the veep a weak presidential candidate?
I suggest considering virtue and vice signalling, and the idea that males have had many more parameters to play with than females -- 'galness' may represent an expansion of possibilities.
I liked this a lot. I have and will continue to criticize Kurtzleben for making everything about gender, but as the topic here *is* gender I want to give credit where it's due.
An extension to consider: has the veep role been used recently as the "straight man" to show off the president's guyness?
Or how about this one:
I guess God told Trump to let his people go.
On this Passover, we celebrate our liberation from Bondiage.
nobility. Trump revels in vulgarity and surrounds himself with the very worst of us.
The fact that 'No Kings' is the best we could come up with as a rallying cry to me speaks volumes about the ongoing narrative crisis that led to this moment.
Conversely, adversaries such as Russia don't have monarchies. Furthermore, many people believe in and express the idea of God as a king.
The problem isn't that Trump behaves like a king, it's nearly the opposite: kings expend enormous efforts on maintaining legitimacy by appearing to exemplify
I attended a No Kings protest on Saturday so I support the general cause, but I have always felt disappointed by its naming.
Our friends in the Commonwealth (including our neighbors in Canada) and in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, and Spain all have kings, and seem to be doing OK.
And here I was thinking that y'all didn't care about the Eastside.
Rode the train from Redmond to Seattle and back on the first day of service of the world's first light rail line to cross a floating bridge. Congratulations to Sound Transit and the governments of the region. Thanks for demonstrating we can still accomplish great things! @kccclaudia.bsky.social
"I'm glad he's dead," says the man who's a heartbeat away from kicking off the first annual Rot in Hell global celebration.
I think this is the most damning indictment I've ever read of anyone. It's, like, "an evil narcissistic piece of shit and dumb as rocks to boot."
y chromosome + enough time to reach puberty
Is it juvenile of me to want the countries Trump is asking to intervene in the Straits of Hormuz to respond with: "FAFO."?
I'm sure there's a gender angle in here somewhere. 😉
As we think about surviving Trump and the day after, Americans need to reevaluate the relationship with procedural formalism and legitimacy. The absence of Article II or 25th Amendment removal should not be what's keeping you from declaring Trump's presidency to now be illegitimate.
My sense is that Trumpists keep going back to the "duly elected" rhetorical well to justify anything Trump does because small-d democrats in the US don't have a good answer for it. And that's because they rely on the Constitution, and all its vaunted checks, as the source of democratic legitimacy.
@kait.bsky.social , @taylorlorenz.bsky.social , @lizzieohreally.bsky.social there may be an interesting story that comes out of asking around at BK if anyone had read or heard of it.

I doubt many people know this, but there is an old story about a dystopian AI takeover that literally begins with a chatbot controlling employees at a burger chain through their headsets. marshallbrain.com/manna1
Actions speak louder than vague pledges. Reward them with your business.
I just pledged to stand with Anthropic. 0 people agree: no mass surveillance, no autonomous weapons. Add your name: #AI #Anthropic #standwithanthropic standwithanthropic.com
to adhere to their harm avoidance principles in the face of threats from the US government is courage that ought to be rewarded.

I think the appropriate response to this is for all normal people who can afford to to buy at least a month's subscription for Claude. I have deep misgivings about their attempt to push advanced AI forward despite the risks they themselves publicly describe, but choosing
I predicted they would cave, but it looks like they have not (where do I send the $100?).
Crockett's behavior sounds very Trumpian. I am sure that there are many who will act like a smooth Democratic Black woman is intrinsically incapable of having a Trumpian tyrant streak, but that kind of delusion is how good people voted for Trump despite all the warning signs.
I put $100 on Anthropic blinking (but finding a way to spin it as something else).
Hmm, the kids working at those companies must not have known to include the WarGames movie script in the training set.
We need to talk about your definition of "view."
...and if you even have any companions left standing to dig you out.
For those not familiar with backcountry skiing, the standard avalanche "safety gear" is a beacon, a shovel, and a probe. They enable your companions to find your buried body and dig it out. Hopefully before you suffocate - if you're even still breathing after the initial trauma of the avalanche.
