keeping it minimal is kind of a necessity in my case because it all lives in the preload and I don't bundle that (for now), which limits our ability to use external modules in the preload.

what modules/approaches have you looked at? any examples of something you're trying to do?

IPC for the Electron app I work on is pretty minimal and some of it is abstracted via a module that's really only used by ourselves 😄 (github.com/digidem/rpc-...), so I've been okay with the limitations.

tangent, but similar experience with Notion. I remember when it used to be a solid and minimal note taking app 🥲

yep that's exactly what happened. I actually liked what they were doing with Hyperlink Academy and that's how I initially became familiar. Met the team a couple of times while they were building pre-atproto Leaflet and before I knew it, they had gone all in 😄
