Our podcast, Fate & Circumstance, has been on hiatus for a long time. This is because of several, separate unexpected life events that happened between myself, Shaira and Melisa. We were finally ready to record again on Tuesday 26th August, to cover the season 3 episode ‘Dolce’, when on the evening of Monday 25th August, I received a phonecall from my Mother to inform me that the police had visited her home, because the body of my sister had been found dead in a hotel room. We still do not know the cause of her death and, although I have tried to remain productive, the sad truth is that I simply do not have it in my heart to continue and finish the podcast. I had been experiencing increasing levels of stress and anxiety when preparing episodes, which take a great deal of work and research, and started to suffer from panic attacks and hyperventilation on recording days, the likes of which I haven’t experienced in years. As many know, I have also in general just had a truly terrible year. This grief isn’t going to go away any time soon, so I have decided that it’s for the best if we end things here. I am sad not to finish when we were so close to hitting the second half of season 3, but sometimes life just doesn’t want to give you a break and you have to make decisions that are difficult but ultimately kind to yourself. I am so grateful for Shaira and Melisa for going on this journey with me and letting me expose them to this wonderful and ridiculous show, I will be forcing them to watch the rest of season 3 with me in our own time.
I am also incredibly grateful to everyone who has listened and interacted with us, I was amazed at how many people approached me at Red Dragon Con to talk about the podcast, you’ve been so kind and wonderful. As I type this, we’re at over 5000 downloads and over 3,300 listeners, which is worlds beyond what I ever imagined for such a niche, nerdy little podcast. I won’t be going anywhere, the Twitter account is being rebranded and will continue to be a Hannibal fan account, with signal boosting people’s art and writing as well as my own, sharing memes, etc. The other socials will stay up. Eventually the Podbean hosting for the podcast will end because I don’t wish to pay for it indefinitely, but the episodes will remain up on our YouTube channel. It's sad to have to announce the end of our podcast, despite being so close to the end but due to circumstances noted above and personal circumstances we have had to call it. We've had so much fun with the community and I met some of you travelling to Germany of all places! Thank you all for listening!
