My reasoning for why Dick couldn’t continue is bc he marries starfire and Nightwing becomes tied to an intergalactic nation, kinda like a marriage union.

He was the heir- after Tim. And yeah he may have matured, but he never suspected that the person he tried to kill on sight would ever willingly just hand over something as momentous as his “birthright” over to him. But he did.)

(Damien, even with the role of Robin teaching him how to feel compassion and empathy and generally mature over the years, was always in the mindset of succeeding Batman.

(Tim’s entire purpose for superhero crime fighting was to keep Batman in check
He literally would’ve continued staying on the sidelines (stalking) as a civilian if it wasn’t for Jason’s death. Hence, Robin is his ORIGIN)
