Oh dang this looks awesome! As someone who’s a huge fan of the Wario Land series (especially the 4th game) I’ve gotta check it out!

There are also some very well-known websites and YouTube channels dedicated to nothing but mods and fan games for Nintendo franchises which have done just fine.

The chances of a Nintendo shutdown are extremely low unless you either charge money, directly compete or maybe go mega viral.

Is This Link’s Design in the Zelda Movie? It’s on a clapperboard used by director of photography Gyula Pados anyway, and looks the part for sure. Check it out inside!

Is this Link’s concept art for the Zelda movie? And what other details can behind the scenes logos, photos and drawings tell us about the movie?

Are there even any Donkey Kong or Rare games you’d consider trash?

3 days ago 0 0 1 0

Honestly the Switch generation in general was just kinda batshit insane content wise. Mario Odyssey? Ruined Dragon and playable Bowser. Paper Mario? Massive amounts of mutilation and body horror. Pokemon? Your friend is the villain team leader, and the actual villain is a robot copy of the dead prof

The funny thing is that both those games ended up working very well for them in the next few generations, sorta like Splatoon did post Wii U.

So many of Nintendo’s failures ended up laying the groundwork for their future successes.

TIL that people make indie/homebrew games utilising the GBA e-Reader. That’s really cool, always thought that tech was completely underutilised by both Nintendo and third parties.

Finally, every layer completed on every difficulty level in Donkey Kong Bananza’s Emerald Rush mode. God that was surprisingly tough…

Zelda 1 and 2 to be honest. These games really need modernising, like via a Super Mario All-Stars type remake that doesn’t depend on a clock like the Satellaview one.

Goddamn this sucks for fans of retro games and gaming history. This guy made some of the best documentaries on YouTube.

Still, he decided to move on due to not feeling passionate about making videos anymore, and I guess you’ve gotta respect him for that.

Finally, it’s been so long since this was released in Japan. Worried we’d never get an English translation.

Get the feeling this is something like a third Mario Movie with Wario, and some sort of Star Fox film with Fox.

Alternatively, the rumoured Donkey Kong or Luigi’s Mansion films get properly teased/announced.

Do Nintendo tend to do April Fool’s Day jokes anymore? Last I recall were in the 90s with Nintendo Power and stuff like Luigi being catchable in Pokemon Red/Blue…

But I doubt it, just because it feels too out there for companies like this.

GitHub - ExpansionPak/SuperRecomp: Tool to statically recompile SNES games into native executables. Tool to statically recompile SNES games into native executables. - ExpansionPak/SuperRecomp

Oh dang someone’s making a tool to recompile SNES games as native PC programs:

Nothing I’m involved in personally, but as someone who’s seen those N64 recomps, I’m excited nonetheless!

If there was a good Haxorus card this would be amazing. Just a shame the current one is basically useless.

I feel like the Oracle games are a must, so definitely choosing those. Paper Mario for sure, especially if in the TTYD remake style. And Wario Land 1 or 2 for personal reasons.

I want new Mario & Luigi games before any more remakes there, and feel like many titles are too modern to remake.

Bet one of these is setting up Wario’s appearance in a future movie.

Congrats. Time to play Origami King and TTYD mods on console!

The time travel setup in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was the right solution for that game’s story. One look at the Age of Imprisonment cast outside the main guys shows why.

Oh that’s horrifying to think about it. Has it really been that long?

Same deal with this year. A big game or two, more spinoffs, more experimental titles and series revivals (if the rumours are true).

The issue is that it doesn’t really work how Nintendo thinks it does. People see the Switch 2 as separate and judge its library in a vacuum, and it feels a bit lacking

3 weeks ago 1 0 0 0

That’s what I’ve been thinking too. If you look at the Switch 2’s games as what we’d have got for that year on Switch, they look a lot less underwhelming. You’ve got the big new game (DK Bananza), some spinoffs (Air Riders, Age of Imprisonment) and some experimental stuff (Drag X Drive).

Damn didn’t even realise these were a thing until now. They look really useful, especially if you’re using SMBX asset pack resources in other projects (where you may need to combine like 50 files into one spritesheet)
