Looking forward to a first full week ahead with my lovely new class. Had the best two days with them last week!

Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?

Being able to sit and eat outside in the sun makes SO much difference - so grateful that this six weeks has had decent weather.

When recommending a book to a child, 'Here's a book I read, loved and think you'll enjoy' carries more weight than 'Here's a book from a list that someone else says is good'. Lists can be a real help and a great starting point but knowing (at least some of) the books is crucial.

So lovely that you make the effort to help yourself remember!

I'm in the lucky position where I work in Year 2 but see the Year 1s all the time and do phonics bits with them so I know all the children I'm getting at least a little bit. Makes transition really smooth.

Spent today in school setting up my classroom and my friend's room with some tasty Greek food for lunch in the middle. Not a bad way to work!

Last night of a week away with my mum and sister. We've visited lots of lovely places, seen lots of wildlife and I've read lots of books so I'd call that a successful week!

Why read books? Because there's a book for EVERYONE out there. And once you find the right book - reading will change your life forever! #literacy

We're staying near Blairgowrie this time - it is about an hour from where my sister lives so worked well for collecting her for the holiday! Today was mostly relaxing after the drive up and a lovely forest walk. Tomorrow, we're off in the direction of Pitlochry.

Gearing up for three more days at work before we break up for summer. Ready for a rest but it has been such a lovely year that it doesn't feel time for my class to move on yet!

Elvis Presley trapped in a set of Venetian blinds.

I'm caught in a slat,
I can’t get out
To show I love you so much, baby

We can't go on together
With such vicious blinds

We had our Year 2 out on a trip yesterday, too. Short drive to a very famous local landmark and a walk through the nearby fields/forest. So many said they had never done anything like it.

I am having SUCH a lovely first week back with my class. Super attitudes, sunshine and a very last minute trip to the theatre are just some of the highlights.

I'm off on a school visit tomorrow morning to look at how reading and early writing is taught in another setting. Looking forward to it - it is always good to see how others do things.

PPA at home in the afternoon as it made more sense commute-wise.

I'm being joined in my classroom this week by a work experience student who was in my second ever class. Such a pleasure to welcome her back.

Lovely family day in Edinburgh today to catch up with my sister. We've all had a mooch around the shops, a tasty lunch out and then a wander around the museum.
