When I began this project I would never have imagined that within a decade people would be arrested and imprisoned in Britain for years just for discussing a possible protest, yet here we are. We now have anti-protest laws worthy of an authoritarian dictatorship and nobody seems to have noticed.

When this project began everyone in Britain had freedom to protest as a right, handed down through the generations. Now, with the passing of draconian anti-protest legislation by successive governments, that right has become a privilege, to be granted on a whim by an unelected police official…

Miners are back on strike: 'I lost everything last time' The National Coal Mining Museum, which has a display about the Miners’ Strike of 1984, is in dispute with ex-miners who work as guides.

Sobering to think that if the current anti-protest legislation had been in place back then the peace camp would have been broken up swiftly and all of the Greenham women would have been sent to prison for years. And Labour is planning to make matters worse with its new laws on protest.
