I wish I knew the origin of this so I could credit the creator.
The EXIGENCE for this morning's #nytspellingbee table flip is....
Word.
The word DECILE is used even outside academic statistics. A quick news search shows it even in headlines. The ways of #nytspellingbee are mysterious indeed.
I did have one piece of information, which was the total word count. The stats screen shows it for prior days, and I've gotten in the habit of asking a friend when I want it for the current day. I think it would be psychologically difficult to not have that piece of information.
About 6 months ago, I decided to stop using any form of hints at all in #nytspellingbee. I rawdog it to Genius every day. I have since QBd on two small games and recently on a medium-sized one. Inevitably, with the larger ones, I just can't find the last couple words. Today I finally did.
I finished #nytspellingbee without finding a pangram this morning. Well, maybe I should write "the pangram" because there is one that Beatrice doesn't care for.
Legit
It's fairly uncommon, which is why I'm not worked up about it.
It's true I get a bit agitated over missing words in #nytspellingbee; I'm also reasonable and entirely PLACABLE. Not gonna flip a second table over PLAICE!
I don't think NOCINO is obscure. Not as awful as omitting AMARO and ARAK, but still... #nytspellingbee
And I did not know antinomian, but that looks like a good call to me.
The whole world is mystified at the lack of concomitant. What an embarrassment.
I agree. I thought I must have been misspelling it.
The absence of this one surprised me. Although I will also chime in and say that I've always hated this word, so it kind of delights me that someone else out there hated it so much that they removed it from the game. #nytspellingbee
Grrr #nytspellingbee
I have a different sort of post for the #hivemind today--and maybe not just #nytspellingbee but for #nytxw language ninjas, too. I don't want to bias the response, so I'll just ask plainly: do these three photos show a kitchenette?
(I'll reply with more context below but leave an answer B4 reading)
...musicconsistently undermined something that I've watched. Ilya's monologue in Russian, arguably the heart of this miniseries, is suffocated by the most lugubrious, cheap-shot, pedal-down performance of "Moonlight Sonata" ever recorded: scene ruined. Why can't we have nice things? #HeatedRivalry
#HeatedRivalry is awful. It's 1/3 soft core porn, 1/3 telenovela, and the remainder is full of cliché and (with one notable exception) without irony. The script is beyond cringe ("Hockey is everything"). The music is so poorly selected that it might be the first time I've actually noted how the...
I will stand by LEITMOTIF but wtf is DJANNI? Allison Djanni?
Meanwhile, ABICI
Yeah it took me ages to find the actual pangram because it's so hard to unsee a perfectly good one right before your eyes.
I feel like I'm now going to spend half the morning trying to see a pangram that isn't DILUVIAN
It's never a good sign when #nytspellingbee doesn't take your opening guesses (DILUVIAL and DILUVIAN). #hivemind, you can always let out a little frustration by starting #Wordle with a SHART. It's a good opener TBH. (not today's game in pic)
KOFTA. Geez, Louise. Someone show him a halal cart plz. #nytspellingbee
Yes, it is annoying. Especially in such a sparse solution set.
