Dumb idea. Opens car companies to more litigation about unsafe vehicles. Serious Plaintiffs will fund their own crash tests with large groups of victims. The government sets the standard now and that's a bit of a defense for automakers.

Republican leaders might free a few senators facing re-election to reject Trump's crazy making. After 2 years of the Trump clown show, there will be lots to sink incumbents. The voters will think incumbents suck. With Trump's crazy there is not enough space for a Senator to make a mark.
