Except when we automate things that have no clear or direct positives for regular people

We could have a society where a lot of labor is done by robots but we don't have a society that would support the people those robots displaced

And that's a real problem

It's also important to note that often automating things means the people who were experts at that thing become de-skilled

Such as when AI is implemented to detect cancer Drs start relying on the AI and lose those skills and thus lose the ability to grow their skill or verify that the AI is correct

Lots of automation there and all of it has some real pros bc often they are safety features like blind spot detection

But it also comes with some real cons
Such as regular people can't do basic repairs for most modern cars at home anymore

But often we aren't told what we are giving up when we sign up for the newest automation

And let's be clear we're always giving up something when we automate anything
