It was my day off. I should have been writing.
Instead, I did some administrative stuff, and took a two hour drive in which I took random backroads, took some pictures of turtles, had a gas station burrito (bad choice), and took a walk in the woods.
Am I still a writer?
Hell yes.
And so are you.

Itch is a bitching place to find cool indie games...and also more and more indie authors.
Quit asking yourself if the books were "written for you" and start asking yourself if you want to read some awesome books.
Do you?
DO YOU?
Sure you do. Start here, enjoy sapphic samurai.

SOBRENATURAL (1981) Eugenio Martín
A post-Exorcist cycle haunter poised at a threshold Poltergeist would soon fully breach, Martín destabilizes the domestic space through metaphysical spousal abuse that transmutes interior dread to externalized threat.
Great hand-to-hand scenes and a hero who is more than just a black Jack Reacher elevate the standard plot.
There is a frustrating lack of black action heroes and Alex Cage does his best to level the playing field while keeping the tone PG-13.
We don't need to reinvent the wheel for fun.

It's one of the reasons I love Men's Adventure novels and that style of pulp paperbacks. You aren't meant to read them all in order, but if you get hooked, you do want to read them all!
Why not indeed???
You can buy it on Amazon, Smashwords, Kobo, Bookshop, and no matter where you buy it, it is guaranteed to leave you dazed with the pulp power on display!
There is B.L. and A.L. in the PoI timeline.
Before Lash and After Lash.
Get some and join the rest of us in the A.L.
That's smart! It gives goals to attain at every stage of the process.
Lesbian samurai fantasy. That's basically what my three Izumo short story collections are all about. If that sounds right up your alley, then by all means, grab yourself a copy.
Or five. 😂

I'm interrupting this Indie April experience (I hope you're digging it!) to say that a firm decision hasn't been made to leave D2D yet, but this week does have a pre-planned sale for One Lash to Kill!
25% off! $2.99! You can get it on Bookshop right now!

Clockwork Assassin, by Cameron Nightshade.
One super special, super commando must go after a diabolical villain using robot killers to do his dirty work. Picture an episode of GI Joe but made for adults who never quite grew up.
Godfrey Ho fans rejoice!

Congrats!
Do you find any particular part of the novel writing tougher than the rest? Like, I struggle at the halfway mark and need to dump more gas in the tank to get over that hump, but I speed through the early pages and rush the end.

GHOST EYES (1974) Kuei Chih-Hung
A vampire ghost optometrist with a smoke allergy controls a beautician through demonic contact lenses in this early Chih-Hung Shaw horror that prophetically manifests as a Haunted Tale tinged in Italian gothic mood over logic sensibility.
This reads like the fevered action notebook of a 15 year-old overdosing on Mtn Dew. I mean that as a compliment.
Nightshade makes each chapter another ludicrous fight in another wild locale with only hints of plot to act as an excuse to tie it all together.
It's a unique experience.

I liked it. It kept the combo system simple but was cute and very responsive.
Snap, you just reminded me I have River City Girls 1 and haven't tried it yet! Guess I know what I'm doing after work tomorrow!
Looks cute! Wish it was on GOG, but I'll wishlist for Steam.
Ever try Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons? That was another recent knuckle bruiser I enjoyed.
Shredder's Revenge is so good! It's a great tribute to the older Turtle beat-em-ups.
I need to to try SoR 4 again. Something about it didn't quite click with me the first time. Mind, I love SoR 1 to death, but not the other two official games.
I'll need to check out Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds.
Yeeeeessss!
Big congrats, my man! That is an epic rush and I am envious and also tired by proxy. Take a break*! You've earned it!
*breaks are defined, in the PoI Bullpen, as two hour blocks of time reserved for weeping and eating of nourishment.
The work of moving my stuff off to other places continues.
Nearly all the books I've written are on Ko-Fi.

Soon, Kobo.
Snake & Sorcery continues!
This week, we dip into the past a little. Kessa returns to Skye to find suspicious things going on, and uses her sorcery and her empathy to settle matters.

I've rarely handed my work off to beta readers, mostly because most of the people around me don't "get" the vibe I want. I've got one who does. When I want some feedback, I give to him. Otherwise, I trust to my guts.
The idea of a beta reader feeding anything of mine to AI would end as you suggest.

The fact that Final Vendetta dates from 2022 just disappoints the heck out of me because it means I could have been playing this awesome Final Fight-like beat-em-up for years now!
This is a great throwback with gorgeous animation that still photos do no justice.
Brodie approves.
