Electa Quinney helped make public education real in Wisconsin. In 1828, she opened a tuition-free school near Kaukauna, teaching like every kid mattered—because they did. Access is the whole point.

NO KINGS APPLETON · Mobilize This will be our 3rd NO KINGS action because we believe that the United States should not and CANNOT have a KING! Oshkosh will also be having a NO KINGS protest planned by Peaceful Patriots and Forward Fox Valley from 12:30 -2:30 PM with the idea that anyone who attends that can attend the Appleton one right after! Please remember to be safe. Please remember to be calm. Make sure you dress for the weather, bring something to drink and anything you might need in those few hours. This is a PEACEFUL protest, but there likely will be some people yelling from their vehicles, as we've had that at previous protests. The best thing to do is to ignore them. We fight back by remaining calm and showing that we are PEACEFUL. The minute that we are not peaceful, we lose and that is what will play in the media instead. If you need help, please find someone with a vest who will assist you. We will also have a medic tent in case any minor medical assistance is needed. The protest in Appleton is co-hosted by Hate Free Outagamie, Forward Fox Valley, Appleton Area NOW and with a shout out to Peaceful Patriots in Oshkosh! Here is more information about WHY we are holding this protest from Indivisible: In June, we did what many claimed was impossible: peacefully mobilized millions of people to take to the streets and declare with one voice — America has No Kings. And it mattered. The world saw the power of the people. President Trump’s birthday parade was drowned out by protests in every state and across the globe. His attempt to turn June 14 into a coronation collapsed, and the story became the strength of a movement rising against his authoritarian power grabs. Four months later, that movement roared back even stronger. On October 18, over seven million Americans joined 2,700+ events in all 50 states — a nationwide uprising 14 times larger than both of Trump’s inaugurations combined. What began in June as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Now, President Trump has doubled down. His administration is sending masked agents into our streets, terrorizing our communities. They are targeting immigrant families, profiling, arresting, and detaining people without warrants. Threatening to overtake elections. Gutting healthcare, environmental protections, and education when families need them most. Rigging maps to silence voters. Ignoring mass shootings at our schools and in our communities. Driving up the cost of living while handing out massive giveaways to billionaire allies, as families struggle. The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings — and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger. “No Kings” is more than just a slogan; it is the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, shouted by millions, carried on posters and chants, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together. Because this country does not belong to kings, dictators, or tyrants. It belongs to We the People — the people who care, who show up, and who fight for dignity, a life we can afford, and real opportunity. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings. We Keep Us Safe. What does this mean? It means that the friendly people at the rally wearing vests and, at times, giving instructions, are people from the groups co-hosting this event who are there to ensure EVERYONE'S SAFETY. Please listen to them. They are volunteers and have no affiliation with the city. *A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*

Nonprofit closure could cost northeast Wisconsin $2.7M, put 134 households at risk Housing advocates say Newcap’s closure could lead to northeast Wisconsin losing more than $2.7 million in federal funding and leave more than 100 households at risk of losing housing. The post Nonprofit closure could cost northeast Wisconsin $2.7M, put 134 households at risk appeared first on WPR.

This is heartbreaking. A nonprofit collapse in northeast Wisconsin could put 134 households at risk of losing housing, while millions in federal support hang in the balance. People who are already hanging on by a thread should not be paying for leadership failure. #Wisconsin #Newcap

‘You can’t erase history’: Dane County is mapping racist language in housing deeds Although such restrictions are no longer enforceable, racist language remains on the books in housing deeds throughout Wisconsin. A Dane County project is helping residents to formally repudiate those racial restrictions. The post ‘You can’t erase history’: Dane County is mapping racist language in housing deeds appeared first on WPR.

So let me get this straight: racist housing covenants were illegal to enforce decades ago, but the vile language is still sitting there in property records like America’s racist little attic ghost. Good on Dane County for dragging this filth into the light. Name it. Map it. Denounce it. #Wisconsin

He wants other people's awards & whines until he gets one. So if they actually DID ask him, you know he would accept. So we all know this is a lie.

He should have said "NOPE"! Gone to the store with that $71 and purchased everything for soup & sandwiches, with money left over.

Why Your Property Taxes Fund Schools the Legislature Ignored Madison has a $2.5 billion surplus, yet 72 school districts are forced to beg local taxpayers for $1 billion just to keep the lights on.

Wisconsin is sitting on a $2.5B surplus, yet 72 school districts are forced to beg voters for $1B in referendums this April just to survive. The GOP Legislature gavilled out for a 10-month vacation instead of fixing the formula. Your property taxes are paying for their failure. #Wisconsin #Taxes

There is no way in hell I would wear that. Think of how hot that is to wear. I feel so bad for them. Having to basically hide in public while sweating your ass off underneath. 🥵

Agreed. Don't understand a remake of a beloved franchise (just the 1st 3). Leave them be. Make your own franchise & stop trying to ride the coattails of great movies.

You notice how it's always men who transition? Not the other way around. They don't ever seem to be too concerned about women who have transitioned. And if it's such a big deal, why not have trans/gay Olympics, like Paralympics? Do their own shit? Why can't we just let people be? 🤷🏽‍♀️😞

The Loophole Letting Madison Politicians Wipe Their Tracks A legal glitch is letting Madison politicians treat public records like a Snapchat message, and it’s keeping you in the dark.

Wisconsin lawmakers are using a "transitory records" loophole to delete their emails and texts before you can ever see them. If you or I did this at work, we’d be fired. In Madison, it’s how they hide who’s actually writing the bills. Transparency shouldn't be optional. #Wisconsin #TransitoryRecords

Wisconsin has a new food assistance law, with a MAHA-inspired provision The bill that Gov. Tony Evers signed into law Monday to increase state funding for food assistance came after months of public debate over how to implement a key component of President Donald Trump’s signature One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The post Wisconsin has a new food assistance law, with a MAHA-inspired provision appeared first on WPR.

The government should not be policing what poor people eat while corporations keep stuffing our food with sugar and chemicals.
If they want Americans healthier, start with the companies making the junk, not SNAP recipients at the register. 😤 #Wisconsin

Racine Co. election denier found guilty in voter fraud case Racine County election conspiracy theorist Harry Wait was found guilty of election fraud Tuesday for requesting absentee ballots on behalf of two elected officials in 2022. Wait has been a prominent voice in Wisconsin’s community of election deniers since the 2020 presidential election, including as a leader of the group H.O.T. Government. He was convicted […]

So let me get this straight: the guy screaming about “voter fraud” committed actual voter fraud. Racine County election denier Harry Wait was found guilty after ordering ballots in other people’s names. You cannot make this nonsense up. 🤡 #Wisconsin #HarryWait

The $14.6M Secret: Wisconsin’s New Athlete Pay Scheme A narrow Senate vote just diverted $14.6 million to sports while schools are left begging for special education dollars.

Wisconsin says we’re too broke to fund special education for rural schools. But we just found $14.6M in taxpayer cash to "free up" money for UW athlete NIL deals. Oh, and the contracts? They’re now a secret, exempt from public records. Priorities, folks. 🧀 #Wisconsin #NIL

Poll: Chris Taylor leads Maria Lazar in Wisconsin Supreme Court race Liberals currently hold a 4-3 majority on the court. If Lazar wins, that margin will remain the same.
