Phew, I guess they call it a brew day for a reason. Took a while but it’s now happily fermenting away! Now time to sit back and drink to Orbán’s electoral demise 🥳

It didn’t feel like that when the first three attempts came out weirdly blotchy. But things improved after that!

I think linotype is a genuine thing, though!
I did a linocut workshop last weekend and it was super helpful, hope yours is just as good.
You’ll have to excuse my ignorance for not knowing the exact difference between linocut and linotype – I’m guessing linotype is more text-focused?
It’s very satisfying peeling the print off! Have you tried it too?

Some more linocut experimentation yesterday evening. Still keeping stuff relatively simple while I play around – might need some better rollers based on the slight patchiness on this one!

Thanks! Would have liked to have had a bit more noise/chatter around the central design but I was worried about it being too noisy, so ended up going too far the other way

Non-galanthophiles may not know that there are hundreds of different cultivars of snowdrop – here are a few of my favourites!
I had the exact same with a student years ago with copper sulfate crystals. I delighted in reading them the MSDS (“convulsions, paralysis and coma”)
I’d guess dependent on student age as well, the students I taught who tried it were between 13-16 years old which I feel is probably the peak age for making decisions without considering the consequences
Could be! Although kids eating copper sulfate definitely predates the appearance of TikTok, which only just existed towards the tail end of my teaching career.
A colleague just incredulously emailed me this article and I, completely unsurprised, noted that while teaching I had at least two students try to eat copper sulfate crystals. Something about those blue crystals is clearly too alluring!
