Making sure that our GP services are revving on all cylinders is key to making sure that patients get the access to NHS services that they need.
We are at a crucial moment in securing a new site in Summertown.
I raised with Wes Streeting the role of the District Valuer in this process today.

Please complete the surveys by Monday 11th May to help contribute to the Liberal Democrats response.

The surveys take no more than 15 minutes to complete and will help to feed directly into the Liberal Democrats response to the Government's consultation.

🧵 Many parents have got in touch with me recently to raise concerns around the use of social media for young people.
The Lib Dems Spokesperson on Science, Innovation and Technology, Victoria Collins, has launched survey's to scope the views of parents and students who use social media.

Happy Easter! 🐣🐑✝️
For Christians, this is the most important day of the year as they celebrate the beginning of new life and the miracle of Jesus rising from the dead.
Wishing all those celebrating a peaceful time with their loved ones.
I will continue to fight for a world where autistic people are able to live their lives to the fullest and where we recognise the positive contribution which neurodivergent people make to our society.
🧵 Today is World Autism Awareness Day.
This year the theme is 'Autism and Humanity - Every Life Has Value', highlighting the dignity and worth of all those with autism in the world.

Happy Passover to all who are celebrating in Oxford West and Abingdon and around the world.
Passover is an incredibly special time to Jewish people, and I hope that all those who are observing find time to celebrate with their loved ones this coming week. 🍎🌿🥚
ICB's must be given the resources to deliver these services properly.
This cannot be another Modern Service Framework allowed to gather dust on the shelf.

🧵 For too many people, the quality of palliative care is a postcode lottery.
We welcome the Government's forthcoming Modern Service Framework, but with some scepticism.
The Committee recommends that ICBs and the Department are held accountable, with consequences for failure.

I came into politics to change things for my local community.
There are really good people who may want to stand as councillors and MPs who are deterred by the tone of debate.
We need to change some of the ways in which we engage in politics, without diminishing anyone else.

A state visit is the highest diplomatic honour we can bestow.
It must not be used to reward a President who has launched an illegal war, brought UK troops into harm’s way, and driven up energy and petrol prices for British families.
In the Health and Social Care Committee, we recently found that it was senior leadership visiting the workforce which saw improvements in corridor care.
I urged the Health Secretary to encourage all NHS board's to do the same to see improvements in conditions for doctors and patients.

🧵 The latest round of resident doctors strikes announced yesterday are again coming at the wrong time.
It is stark how many of our constituents want to see the NHS improve and this is yet again another stumbling block.

I will be on BBC Question Time this evening from Clacton! Catch me from 9pm on BBC iPlayer and Sounds and 10.40pm on BBC One.
Now is the exact wrong moment to turn our back on the promise which we made to the children of our country.
Children took part in the Friday for Futures movement to make clear to parliamentarian's that they wanted a commitment on Net Zero.
To renege on this promise would be harm their futures.
Statement from Oxfordshire Civic, Community and Faith Leaders condemning the antisemitic attack on Jewish Community Ambulances.
Today the Health and Social Care Committee has published it's report on Palliative Care today, which can be found here: publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5901/cm...
The problems in palliative care are long standing and inadequate.
The postcode lottery of care is not acceptable and we are pleased that the Government wants to give this issue attention.
The Committee will not rest until there is a waiting time standard for metal health as there is for physical health.
You can see the Committee's full report into Community Mental Health Services here: publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5901/cm...
Last week I spoke in Parliament about the Health and Social Care Committee's Community Mental Health Report.
We were baffled that there is no waiting time target for mental health like there is for elective care.
Happy Nowruz to all who celebrate the Persian New Year!🎆
The conflict in Iran will make this time incredibly difficult for so many as concerns for loved ones grow each day.
I hope that, even in these uncertain times, Persian communities around the world will find chance to celebrate together. 🍎🫚🧄
Eid Mubarak to those celebrating in Oxford West & Abingdon and across the world.
I hope that you will find time to enjoy this celebration with your loved ones.
I know that the current conflicts in Iran and Gaza will make this an unsettling time for many and you will be in my thoughts this Eid.
The circumstances since the Brexit referendum have changed.
Everyone is agreed that we must increase defence spending, but this will only be achievable with an increase in economic growth.
What would shift the dial on the economy far more than anything else is a closer relationship with Europe.
Yesterday I met with the Minister for Water, following on from my PMQ where I challenged the PM on the future of Thames Water.
She made me aware of panels held by the Consumer Council for Water which will listen to the views of customers. I will update constituents as I hear more about them.
Today I asked the Secretary of State to consider our letter and whether he will lead the response to vaccination trends in this country.
You can see the Committee's letter to the Department of Health here: committees.parliament.uk/publications...
Out of the tragic events at the University of Kent this weekend must come a laser like focus on vaccination and immunisation from the Government.
The Health and Social Care Committee recently wrote to the Department sharing our concerns around the declining rate of vaccine uptake in the UK.
For those joining me in York this weekend...
The Government must publish the risk assessment of the Trump Drug Deal.

“I am very doubtful of the wisdom of tying our cherished NHS to a deal of dubious benefit with someone as fickle and faithless as Trump,” writes @laylamoran.bsky.social.
