I don't really have any references I could point to for drawing, I handle popping with this geonodes setup!
My sona started as just my personal preferences and trying to be appeal art wise, and then over time I made changes for inflation stuff, like the spots and hoodie.
The short answer for me is passion for both, make what you want to see because you want to make it. If starting is hard then start small.

I used to do 2d digital art, but it didn’t do to well and I wasn’t really enjoying it fully. While 3d animation is a good mix of artistic creativity and logic systems like nodes and drivers.
That one’s tough, but it’s easier to be helped and deflated when I’m not floating away

I actually enjoy a bunch of different and obscure methods for inflating. One that stands out for me is soda.
